Happy J.P. Crawford Day

via GIPHY
Look, J.P. Crawford had some early season struggles. There's no doubt about it. But even with those struggles, he has a .351 on-base percentage and .405 slugging mark. He still hit 15 home runs, 20 doubles and six triples.

Crawford might not light the world on fire like Rhys Hoskins has during his September call-up. But he's going to make the offense better. He's going to force the opposition to throw pitches, something the lineup has lacked for quite a long time.

Crawford won't push the Phillies toward 70 wins. But he could be the difference between 100 losses and 97 losses, either of which probably get you the top 1 or 2 spots in next years draft.

Interesting lineup now possible for Phillies:
Hernandez
Crawford
Williams
Hoskins
Altherr
Herrera
Alfaro/Rupp
Franco/Galvis
P
I would like to see this lineup at least a few times over next couple of weeks

I'd rather see:
1. Hernandez
2. Crawford
3. Herrera
4. Hoskins
5. Altherr
6. Williams
7. Franco/Galvis
8. Alfaro/Rupp
9. P

Herrera needs to bat 2nd or 3rd. He needs to get more at bats than a 6 hole hitter would receive. Williams is not selective enough to bat 3rd and I think we'll see his average settle into the .260ish range.

Just my thoughts.

Ben Lively has been pretty good since his recall. And not too bad with the bat either.

Phils trade Juan Nicasio to Cardinals for their 19th ranked prospect, second baseman Eliezer Alvarez. Smart move by Klentak.

I looked at the lineup and when it came to the OF with Herrera, Altherr, and Williams I feel they are interchangable between hitting 3, 5, and 6. But yeah Herrera hitting 3rd is a good option

Like a comedy show on the field tonight.

Some thoughts...
1. Out of the bottom 20 in terms of WAR for position players, the Phillies have 5 - Kim, Franco, Joseph, Perkins, and Saunders.
2. Giving up so many inside the park homeruns is shameful. How is it that Mackanin was extended? Poor pitching staff management, team is fundamentally flawed. What does he offer?!
3. I've lost hope in this rebuild. I find it hard to believe that this team will be competitive in the next 3 years. Shitty manager and marginal talent.

Rhys Hoskins...yeah.

Rhys deserves his own post. this is just getting plain ridiculous
