Good Stuff -
Altherr is killing it.
Cesar continues to be a great leadoff man.
Nola made a rehab start last night in AAA.
Neshek has been good.
Phillies catching tandem has been solid.
ToJo starting to hit

Bad Stuff -
Hellickson and Eickhoff last few starts.
Nearly the entire bullpen has stunk.
Franco...wtf?!
Saunders entirely mediocre
Did I mention the bullpen?

Oh, Alec Asher - 6 G, 2 GS, 18.2 IP, 15 K, 2.89 ERA, 1.13 WHIP with Orioles. He should be on the Phillies pitching staff. Thanks Klentak.

I'd like to see one or both of Pat Venditte and Hoby Milner added to the bullpen. They can take the 40-man roster spots of Luis Garcia and Adam Morgan and 25-man roster spots of Joely Rodriguez and Jake Thompson.

Venditte in AAA - 10 G, 16.1 IP, 20 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and he's a switch pitcher. Career 2.43 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in minors.
Milner in AAA - 9 G, 10.2 IP, 10 K, 0.00 ERA, and a 0.56 WHIP. He's a lefty!

Mackanin extended. WT bloody F

The leads me to believe they don't think they'll contend in 2018 either. Mackanin is not a manager for a contending team. He mishandles the pitching staff, is not a strategist, and in general just seems to be blah. Not a fan am I.

Mackanin extension is hardly much at all. All it means he is signed on for next year and the following year ONLY if the team wishes to keep him. I am not opposed to him as manager maybe a bit indifferent to him. We have had worse. (Probably viewed as a ringing endorsement lol) But if things go well for Carson in 2018, then 2019 we may finally see him filling out the lineup card.

I'd love the opportunity to manage. People would hate me and talk trash on me all the time too then. Comes with the gig.

On a positive the Phillies did not lose last night, thank you rain!

Phillies starters can't get through 5th or 6th inning. Pitching has been a HUGE disappointment thus far is 2017.

The Phillies rank 12th in the Majors in runs per game (4.71), ninth in on-base percentage (.330), eighth in slugging percentage (.432), ninth in OPS (.762) and first in pitches per plate appearance (4.03). Last season, they ranked 30th, 29th, 29th, 30th and 27th in those categories, respectively.

Ironically if the team coupled last years pitchung with this years offense they would be near 500. They are not being blown out each game just a lot of late game melt downs
