Philly Ready to Welcome Aaron Nola

A huge part of the future for the Phillies will be making his MLB debut in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Aaron Nola has zipped through the minor leagues and is ready to test his mettle against fiercer foes. Blessed with pinpoint control and a headstrong mentality, the 22 year old right-handed 2014 1st round pick is poised for success.

Minor league stats: 14-7, 30 G, 29 GS, 164.2 IP, 28 BB, 137 K, 2.57 ERA, and a 1.06 WHIP.

Now replace Frenchy and Brown with Altherr and Bogusevic. Trade Revere for some solid bullpen arms. Then we just bide our time until Eflin, Lively, Biddle, Windle, etc are ready to join Hamels and Morgan. All other current SPs go away. Could be contending next year if all the prospects turn out as hoped.

Good to see Adam Morgan pitching like a backend starter. They need him. Hopefully Buchanan can rebound and do the same.

Frenchy with some more clutchnicity.

Erik Kratz signed minor league deal. Hopefully Phillies can unload Ruiz and he's called up to finish season and his career.

Billingsley pulled after 5 shutout innings?

He left with a possible arm injury

May need to sew it back on

Come August, I'd like to see an outfield of Asche in LF, Herrera in CF, and Aaron Altherr in RF. Dom Brown is crap. Sorry, but true. Frenchy and Revere should be traded for possible pieces of the future (even if they're only 4th outfield/UTL/RP ceiling).

Altherr .297/.862 this year between Reading and Lehigh Valley with 24 DBL, 4 TRPL, 10 HR, 47 R, 47 RBI, and 12 SB. He's an all-around talent. Give him a chance, a long chance.

They should entertain offers for Asche Brown and Ruf too. Then go ahead and bring up several from the minors. Perkins is another who has potential. Unfortunately Quinn has been injured as he would have been good to see in September

Hamels throws back to back clunkers

GM-Carson said...

Worse than clunkers. Some of the worst starts of his career.

Rumors that the Dodgers could offer Puig as man part for Hamels. Thoughts?

GM-Carson said...

Puig seems like a huge asshole, but also a huge talent. I'd do it.
