Asche Up, Sizemore Out

Cody Asche has been summoned from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will be plugged into the Phillies lineup as their left fielder.  The converted third baseman was only batting .245/.632 before being temporarily demoted to learn his new position.  Hopefully he can get the stick going upon his return.  The Phils surely need the offense.

To make room on the 25-man and 40-man rosters, Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment.  No big loss.  He was signed to an unwarranted $2M contract in the offseason, but didn't even produce enough to deserve a minor league pact. In 39 games this season, he hit a completely empty .245 (a pitiful .584 OPS).

The Rockies are in town for a 3-game set.  Both teams are awful, but at least Hamels and Harang with be pitching for the Phightins.

Enjoy the weekend.

Almost no-hit. Yeah, horrible offense. Historically so.

Another loss. 13 games below .500, last in runs, no hope.

6 games losing streak and good efforts by Hamels & Harang wasted. That likely means the streak will be run out to 8 or 9 with the other starters going before Hamels and Harang pitch again. I think they may skip Gonzalez again
