All Star Break- Enjoy

Chase Utley is the Phillies lone representative in the 2014 All Star game. He deserves it. All others...meh. This team is about to be blown to smithereens. They deserve it.

Series Preview- The Phillies Will Lose

It doesn't matter if the Phillies were playing the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Bad News Bears, my former high school's junior varsity softball team, or my sons' t-ball team, they'll lose every damn time.  Dark times are upon us.  Dark times.  Haven't seen a team this shitty since the 90's, but that was with a minuscule/cheapskate payroll.  The current cast of Philadelphia Phillies are well paid, under performing has-beens and never-will-bes.  I don't dislike the players.  I root for them every game.  I dislike hate the management of this team, aka Ruin Tomorrow Jr.  WSBGMs has been saying for years that his stupid trades, contract signings, mishandling of the draft, and international signings would be the death of this franchise.  Guess what?  It was.  I fairly certain that the Phils won't have a winning season again until we're into the 2020's.  Pathetic. Sad. Infuriating.

By the way, they do open a series in Milwaukee tonight against the NL's best team, the Brewers.

Shutouts, Minor Updates & Other Stuff

The Phillies were shutout for the 11th time this season.  That's roughly an average of once every 10 games (13% of games played).  That's pathetic.  Be ashamed.

Jason Marquis is looking worthy of a promotion.  In 3 minor league starts he boasts a 0.50 ERA/0.83 WHIP over 18 innings with 19 strikeouts. Of course, should KK be traded, instantly a spot in the rotation opens for him.

Grady Sizemore is making a decent first impression too, batting .300/.867 in 5 games with the Iron Pigs.  I foresee Marlon Byrd being traded, opening a spot for a platoon in RF of Sizemore and Ruf.

The Phillies have the 4th worst record in baseball (36-48), 4th fewest runs (319), and the 2nd worst OPS (.669).  That's pathetic.  Be ashamed.

Mike Adams has been placed on the 60-day DL, so that eliminates any chance of him being traded before July 31.
