Rube and the Phillies couldn't cough up 6 years and $70 million to sign Tomas? I think they'll regret that, much like most of Rube's tenure here in Philly.

If Tomas goes to hit .260 with 25 HR a year, they'll regret. Those types of players are disappearing from the cleaned up version of MLB.

Happy Thanksgiving WSBGMs

Tomas could end up being really good.

Maybe just maybe Howard will be untradeable and go on and hit 50 homers in 2015 for the Phillies. Ok enough with being delusional - go eat turkey

They better not just dump Howard. It's not like they have a capable replacement. Ruf is unproven and likely not any better or even as good as Howard. Only way Phillies should rid themselves of Howard is through a trade that is fair. Crap contract for crap contract like i proposed last week. A straight up release would be the dumbest thing ever.

The next Cuban prospect would likely be 2B Jose Fernandez 26yo with below average speed and power, average defense, but an on base machine who doesn't strike out (1 in 314 at bats).

Amaro went on to reject the concept that the team was focused on bolstering its lineup. “Who said we were looking for a power bat?” Amaro queried. “We have a long-term plan and the moves we make are based on that. We’re looking for pitching right now.”

What f'n moves has he made? Re-sign Sizemore and Jerome Williams. Snooze! A bunch of minor league trash. C'mon! I hate Amaro.

I'm confused by that comment. Maybe Montgomery got back involved.

In about week or so rule 5 draft will be held. Usually not much chance of any good players but 2 teams with deep farm systems left a pair of players available. Marlins:1B Canha power hitter with average, and lefty Jardin Garcia and Astros OF Delino DeShields big time speed and some power, and right Jandel Gustave throws upwards to 100.

Plus several other interesting names. The Phillies have a fairly high pick I believe so they could grab a player who would be of value. Sad that the Phillies have floundered so badly at player development.

No offer made to Tomas. Sounds like Montgomery has his hands back involved.

This team has stopped doing anything. No moves at trade deadline (except Mayberry), only 2 resigned and several minor league signings. But no trades or bigger free agents. Next week is the winter meetings which I do expect for something to be done but so far any change hasn't really happened.
