Free Agent Squad- $2M and Below

With a shrewd eye for talent, savvy business sense, and luck, a bargain can still be found in the free agent market. I composed a 25-man roster of free agents signed last offseason to contracts of $2 million or less. Aside from a shaky back-end of the rotation, this team could compete.

Cheap shot throwing Delmon Young in there

Yeah, well he did good for the O's.

Sucked as a Phillie.

Coghlan and Fuld were both players rumored the Phils were interested in. Jason Frasor and Zach Duke I remember many suggesting the Phils to pick up.

This offseason I think the Phils will most likely just add cheaper options for the roster. Unfortunately I don't see a great upside for the team in 2015 so saving for 2016 may be a good idea. Yas Tomas would be the exception as he could be a long term solution.

BRob retired

Yes, he retired, but this was based on the 2014 season, not heading into the offseason for future signings. Most of these players earned bigger pay days going forward.

Question: Is there really any need to spend big to improve team?
I see only a long term player such as Yas Tomas could potentially be or maybe a starter be the only worth wile options.

The wildcard would be if some of the starters got moved such as Howard, Ruiz, Utley, Rollins, Byrd etc... I could see maybe 2 of those with Howard and Byrd being the most likely

Jerome Williams returning for 2.5 million

I'm not ready to move on from Rollins and Utley. If they're dealt, it damn well better be a great deal that will have major positive impact on the Phillies future.

Howard can just get gone.
