Shutouts, Minor Updates & Other Stuff

The Phillies were shutout for the 11th time this season.  That's roughly an average of once every 10 games (13% of games played).  That's pathetic.  Be ashamed.

Jason Marquis is looking worthy of a promotion.  In 3 minor league starts he boasts a 0.50 ERA/0.83 WHIP over 18 innings with 19 strikeouts. Of course, should KK be traded, instantly a spot in the rotation opens for him.

Grady Sizemore is making a decent first impression too, batting .300/.867 in 5 games with the Iron Pigs.  I foresee Marlon Byrd being traded, opening a spot for a platoon in RF of Sizemore and Ruf.

The Phillies have the 4th worst record in baseball (36-48), 4th fewest runs (319), and the 2nd worst OPS (.669).  That's pathetic.  Be ashamed.

Mike Adams has been placed on the 60-day DL, so that eliminates any chance of him being traded before July 31.

I watched the game yesterday and I saw each batter go up to the plate without a bat in hand. That may have something to do with it.

I think trading KK, Burnett, Papelbon, Bastardo, Byrd, Mayberry, and maybe a few others could not only bring in a couple of players for the minors or roster - but open up spots for Marquis, Sizemore, Ruf, Sudsdorf, and others just to see what they may have.

Meanwhile in the AL Moss hit his 19th homer yesterday - dang!

MA Gonzalez may end up with team by years end too.

Would love to see all of those mentioned traded.

Doubtful Mayberry gets them anything than filler.

Byrd has a nice contract and helps next year for the team he's traded to, so he might get a fringe prospect.

KK gets you the same.

Burnett has an option for next year, so he gets you the same.

Bastardo, not much.

Papelbon, Amaro will have to eat money to get anything of value in return.

Basically, I'm saying they won't really get much of anything in those trades, but maybe some guys that are future bullpen arms or role players.

Most will likely get the team a fringe prospects or two with the possibility of getting 1 or 2 good players for maybe Byrd or Burnett. It may take 3 years for the team to rebuild as a handful of prospects could be ready by then.

Roberto Hernandez sucks!

Byrd is most tradable player now but he is the only one who is hitting

I know I've said the Phillies suck in the padt, but i mean it more than ever right now.

I read that this is the first Phillies team to loose more than 50 games before the All Star Break since the 1997 squad. I was four years old then. Horrid.

I was 17, ugly years back then. Dark, dark times. They have returned.
