Are you f'n kidding me?!

Ruben Amaro Jr. failed to trade any of the Phillies players today before the 4 PM Trade Deadline.  I am flabbergasted.

Trade Chips:
Antonio Bastardo
Cliff Lee
Marlon Byrd
AJ Burnett
Carlos Ruiz
Jonathan Papelbon
Ryan Howard
Roberto Hernandez
Kyle Kendrick

I don't include Utley, Rollins, and Hamels because I wouldn't have traded them.  Brown isn't included because he has absolutely no value currently.  I'm not suggesting it's an easy task to find a taker for any of them, but I saw plenty of deals going down today and none by the Phillies.

Amaro is the worst GM in Major League Baseball, and that is not hyperbole.

There were a lot of trades made today and none by Phillies announced yet (and its a half hour past deadline)

This team does need change to compete. There's a chance that change may happen in August, but there are less August trades than July. Also some teams have now filled needs.

Keeping Papelbon and Bastardo keeps the bullpen strong for 2015.

Ruiz and Byrd are still better than average players at their positions.

Lee and Hamels are still top pitchers while it seems AJ has slipped a bit.

Moving some of them would have created more playing time for players such as Ruf. Also it would have created more salary room to improve in offseason.

I do have to say that this is disappointing trade deadline. I have a feeling that Amaro is viewed as one that other GMs likely do not want to deal with.

uhhh, if we know they are garbage, I am pretty sure the rest of the league does as well....add in all the crazy contracts our buffoon GM doles out and you get players who you can't move.....

Shit, really wish we would have unloaded Lee before todays outing.

Did anyone watch the trade deadline show on MLB network? Everyone else, analyists, the other 29 teams, their fans, EVEROYNE thinks we're a joke. They talk about us like we're not even a legitimate franchise. I'm embarrassed to be part of this. Fucking go Eagles.

Baseball Tonight showed a team photo of before and after the Trade Deadline of the Phillies. It was the same! The are a joke. An unfunny one at that.

When Roberto Hernandez is your #2 pitcher, your team has issues.

GM-Carson said...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hernandez dealt in August. He has been great over the past couple weeks.

Hell the way he's pitching, I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around another year. He'll be more expensive than this season, but should still be kind of cheap, and won't make me shudder every time I see him get the ball.

GM-Carson said...

Next year's team is going to be even worse. Lee seems to be breaking down quickly like Halladay did. Went from awesome to hurt/bad pitcher overnight. I know that's harsh, but it's the truth. He still has many millions owed to him and he may never be effective again.

Let's see if August provides any trades.
I think Aumont is done unless he becomes dominant in AAA.

Phillies signed a 16 year old SS from Panama, see ya in 2020....

2020 will be the next time the Phils might contend.

Phillippe Aumont is the Michael Martinez of relief pitchers.
