Roster Be Changin'

1. Ronny Cedeno was traded to Arizona Diamondbacks for minor league catcher Raywilly Gomez.  Cedeno played in 7 games, collecting 9 at bats, and no hits for the Phillies, so trading him for anything is an accomplishment. Gomez is a 24 year old, and is currently in Double A.  He's a career .286/.736 hitter over 526 minor league games, with solid on base skills, but no power.

2. Luis Garcia was up, then down for the doubleheader on Saturday.  He served as the team's 26th man, which MLB now allows for on such occasions.

3. Sean O'Sullivan started the nightcap of the doubleheader on Saturday and was then promptly designated for assignment to create a roster spot for utility infielder Andres Blanco.  He was hitting .241/.598 for the Iron Pigs this year, so don't get excited.  In fact, get pissed, because it's further proof Amaro does nothing right.

4. Carlos Ruiz hit the 7-day DL with a concussion and catcher Koyie Hill was summoned from Lehigh Valley to take his place.

5. Ethan Martin was sent packing back down to the minors and whipping boy BJ Rosenberg was recalled.
