Congrats Pap- Save #300

Congratulations to Jonathan Papelbon for collecting his 300th career save.  It was his first save opportunity since May 24th (shame on you Phillies).  He lowered his ERA to 1.48 and now has only been scored on in 2 of his 25 appearances this season.  His contract is much maligned, but he still gets the job done, so today we celebrate his career milestone.

Domonic Brown's terrible season:
.579 OPS ranks 167 out of 170 qualified batters
-1.2 WAR is tied for 1049 out of 1052 batters this season

I can forgive the Phillies for not creating a save situation in the Friday night game in Cincinnati. However, even in an 8-0 win, a pitcher can get a save by finishing the game with at least 3 innings. A guy named Les Lancaster once got a save this way in a major league regular season game in which his team won by a margin of victory of 27 runs.

Howard just played a bunt into a "single". Complete shit in the field.

How about Rollins stealing 2 bases on the same pitch - that is phenomenal! !!!!!

I love that people are focusing on Jimmys possible hall of fame career. Hes a unique figure at shortstop, and has a chance.

He has been good enough for long enough by avoiding injury, and to top it off he really is a very very good fielder.
