Bullpen ERAs & Minor League Signings

Bullpen ERAs:
1. Ken Giles - 1.29 ERA, 7 G, 7 IP, 12 K, 0.71 WHIP
2. Jonathan Papelbon - 1.44 ERA, 32 G, 31.1 IP, 27 K, 0.96 WHIP
3. Justin DeFratus - 1.71 ERA, 19 G, 21 IP, 19 K, 1.00 WHIP
4. Mike Adams - 2.12 ERA, 19 G, 17 IP, 20 K, 1.18 WHIP
5. Mario Hollands - 2.20 ERA, 31 G, 28.2 IP, 23 K, 1.05 WHIP
6. Antonio Bastardo - 2.68 ERA, 35 G, 37 IP, 45 K, 1.08 WHIP
7. Jake Diekman - 4.25 ERA, 37 G, 36 IP, 48 K, 1.31 WHIP

This is a welcomed sign, as some of those arms are young and controllable. When Mike Adams comes back, that's a pretty solid bullpen.  Diekman's ERA might be high, but he still has value because of his strikeout rate.

Minor League Signings:
1. Grady Sizemore - was a beast in Cleveland until injuries derailed his career.  Missed all of 2012 and 2013.  Started the season with the Red Sox, but was released earlier this month after hitting .216/.612 in 52 games.  Lifetime he's put up far better numbers, .266/.819, 141 HR, 139 SB, in 944 games. The 31 year old is set to debut tonight for the Iron Pigs.

2. Jason Marquis - working his way back from a season-ending injury last year, he's been signed to add depth to the starting rotation. Makes his debut with the Iron Pigs tonight.  Career 121-114 record, with a 4.56 ERA, and 1.44 WHIP over 14 MLB seasons.

3. Russ Canzler - career .271/.700 hitter in 29 MLB games.  The 28 year old provides depth at corner infield and outfield.  In 11 minor league season, he's hit .274/.802 with 120 homeruns.  Was in the starting lineup for Lehigh Valley yesterday.

Yep, 7-day DL with concussion. Time for Rupp to show his stuff.

Koyie Hill up to share time with Rupp.

Zach Collier taken off the 40 man roster. What a disappointment of a 1st round pick. Phils missed a lot there for awhile. Savery a miss. Anthony Hewitt a miss. Jesse Biddle might be a bust.

Marquis pitched well for the Piggies tonight. 6 ip, 1 r, 6 k.

Sizemore had a hit.

Canzler 2 hits.

The active catchers on the Phillies roster don't have a hit among them all season.

A lot of top outfielder prospects got cut in last week. Sad part not much more left.

Freaking Bastardo!

Bullpen starts getting kudos for being good and they implode

After today's double loss, Phillies fall to one of the worst teams in baseball. Congrats.

Frustrating team:
Rotation has Hamels, Burnett, and Lee all who are really good pitchers.
Bullpen has some of the best young arms
Infield has Ruiz, Howard, Utley, and Rollins all of whom are quality and productive players, along with an ever improving Asche.
Outfield has Byrd and and and and umm ok that is about it. Brown and Revere having problems.
The bench is not really good at all.
This is a team that should win 50% or better. But they cannot put it together.
