It's the End of the World as We Know It

In a span of 3 games the Phillies were no-hit and Ben Revere clubbed a homerun (first one of his career in 1,567 plate appearances/1,467 at bats).  Is this the Apocalypse?  Is this the end of the world as we know it?  If so, REM is wrong, because I don't feel fine.

Ryan Howard has a 47.1% strikeout rate against lefties. He should never face one again!

Saint Utley's career high for doubles in one season is 48. Currently has 22, on pace for 71.

Bastardo's "control" is atrocious.

I saw Howard come up with 2 out against a lefty tonight. Yes, he was the last Phillies batter that inning.

I was waiting for Revere to go deep again. I may even pick him up for my fantasy team now that he has added power.

GM-Carson said...

When he laid down a bunt last night, I screamed at the tv, "You can't be laying down a bunt when you have power to change the game in one swing of the bat!"

GM-Carson said...

Howard has 1 fricken walkoff homerun and all of a sudden he should play everyday against lefties and his contract is suddenly well worth it.

I've seen enough of Cesar Hernandez at 3rd base. In a pinch, sure, but not starting multiple games in a row. Booted a double play ball in an inning, then later in the same inning instead of getting the lead runner at 3rd for a sure out, threw to 2nd where the runner was safe. That's 3 f'n outs right there.

This team is so inconsistent, they look great 1 night only to lose in an ugly game the next.

Utley and Rollins along with Paps look like All Stars this year. Howard and Byrd have been decent and Ruiz good so far. Asche was starting to come around only to get hurt. I've been saying all along that they could contend as they have potential with a good rotation and a lot of young relievers if they finally step up and pitch like we have seen at times but consistently. I feel the bench is weak but Ruf and Hernandez are big improvements there.

Now with that said, they are letting the season start to slip away and now sit near the bottom of MLB standings.

Hernandez is Minimart II except he doesn't play outfield

I wish Bobby Abreu was on the Phillies and Gwynn or Mayberry were on the Mets. Stupid Amaro.

A number of players have a June 1 opt out date around the league. I'm sure several would be upgrades for bench and bullpen.

In other news, Mini-Mart is hitting a robust .232/.281/.316 with no home runs for AAA Indianapolis. He has played five positions though. What an asset.

GM-Carson said...

How didn't Amaro know Mini Mart was the worst player in MLB? He add hould be fired for that alone.
