Victorino's Penchant for Postseason Grand Slams

Congrats to old buddy Shane Victorino. The Flyin' Hawaiian's grand slam in Game 6 of the ALCS sent the Boston Red Sox to the World Series to face the St. Louis Cardinals. It was an emotional blast for Shane, as he was terrible up until that point in the series. If you recall, this is Vic's second postseason grand slam, having taken CC Sabathia deep back in 2008 against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS. That too, helped propel the Phillies unto the next series and to eventually becoming the World F'n Champions.

*Watch the entire video for some great memories, but if you only want to see Victorino's slam, then it's around the 30 second mark.

Bye-Bye...Well, Sorta

The Phillies have been doing some house cleaning, as Cesar Jimenez, JC Ramirez, John Lannan, Casper Wells, and Roger Bernadina were all outrighted off the 40-man roster.

That illustrious group combined to hit .157/.482 in 121 at bats and pitch to the tune of a 5.90 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP over 116 innings.  Good job Amaro!

Speaking of Amaro, he most love fellatio from Michael Martinez, because he re-signed that piece of poop to a minor league contract.  Some habits are hard to break.  Mini-Mart's OPS of .495 is the 7th lowest over the past 50 years in MLB with a minimum of 396 plate appearances.  Shame on your Amaro, the afternoon delight can't be that good.

He's Back...

Say hello to the Philadelphia Phillies new bench coach, who will serve under manager Ryne Sandberg.  He might seem a bit fimiliar.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, that red-assed little prick Larry Bowa is back! Can't wait to see him rip into Rollins for 4 infield pop-up outs in one game.

Sandberg and Bowa are reunited for the first time since they were both traded to the Cubs back in 1982 by the dimwitted Phillies.

Gone

The Departed:
Rich Dubee- pitching coach, contract not renewed
Mich Billmeyer- catching coach, contract not renewed
Michael Martinez- piece of poop, optioned off 40-man roster
Pete Orr- UTL, optioned off 40-man roster
Zach Miner- RHP, optioned off 40-man roster
Mauricio Robles- LHP, optioned off 40-man roster
Tyler Cloyd- RHP, claimed off waivers by Indians
Raul Valdes- LHP, claimed off waivers by Astros

None of these guys were worth retaining for the most part.  Robles might be a good re-sign on a minor league deal, and Cloyd could still potentially fit into to the backend of someone's rotation, but no real losses here.

WSBGMs Collection of Phillies

We Should Be GMs was established March 28, 2006 and GM-Carson & Corey have been blogging for 8 seasons now. In that time we've witnessed the Phillies ascend the NL East and triumph over all of baseball and stake claim to being a perennial contender in the National League until plummeting the past two seasons. Many players and coaches have come and gone with some even staying for the duration. This post is intended as a means of reflection on all those men who've donned the Phillies uniform during our time in the blogsphere. Enjoy...
