So Long and Farewell Good Sir

Roy "Doc" Halladay is one of the best pitchers of his generation and is personally my favorite pitcher of all-time.  He was always a class act and gave it his all on and off the field.  Someday, he's likely to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but for now I just want to say thanks.

*Just realized that originally this post said "God" instead of "Good" Sir...still appropriate, right?

Granderson and Colon now Mets. Mets are better than the Phillies. Sad.

Thank you Roy. Better than Jim Bunning even. I was at Shea with my Dad the day of his Perfect Game.

The Mets could honestly be a .500 team if things go right, but I don't see them in playoff contention. More or less the same as the Phillies in that regard, but less "has to go right" for the Mets because they are younger and healthier.

SirAlden: That is really cool! Do you remember much about it?

Roy had a few years here of just awesome pitching performances. Just dominate

I still have my Score Card. I was 9.

Johnny Callison hit a HR. He had the greatest arm in RF I ever saw. During the All-Star Game that year if I remember correctly he threw someone out at the plate.

I remember it as if it was yesterday. This was the first year I followed any team. Just think what it would do for a child to be listening to the 1964 Phillies.

When people complain - I do agree that the current fan base are frontrunning sally's.

Dick "do not call me Richie" Allen had the greatest strongest wrists I have ever seen, he should be in the Hall of Fame, and would be if not for the Racism of the time.

Once in Connie Mack Stadium in North Philly I saw Dick Allen fooled by a huge sweeping curve that was headed for his right shoulder/head. He fell away - about to be hit - falling out of the Batters box, and with his wrists he flipped the pitch into the UPPER DECK as he fell to the ground.

Crap, Amaro selected a real turd of a reliever in the Rule 5 draft.

Bob D said...

supposedly Amaro has signed a back end rotation starter

Fausto Carmona/Roberto Hernandez is horrible. Worse than KK. Amaro is a waste of brain cells. He has not improved the team this offseason.
