they are looking for a higher draft pick
They're looking to lose fans.
They are currently at #10 in the reverse standings. The Phillies have every incentive to loose- they get a protected pick gaurenteed if they loos out, and they help the Braves try to get back homefield advantage against those friggin' Birds.
Tanking on purpose just seems wrong to me.
Even if they win 2 of last 3 they are likely to be in bottom 10 anyway. They should have the upper hand tonight with Lee, but the following 2 are likely bullpen games. Last chance for some to make final impressions
Diekman and Papelbon are the only sure things heading into 2014 in the bullpen, in my opinion.Rosenberg has a 10 game stretch, but that's NOTHING in the grande scheme of things.
The entire Phillies baseball club has produced a mere 18.1 WAR this season. 97.2% of that WAR was Lee, Hamels, Utley, and Brown (17.6). Outside of those four players, the 2013 Phillies were statistically a AAA team. Sickening. RAJ has to be the worst GM in the majors.
Amaro doesn't do a very good job building depth at AAA either. Go out there and sign the Freddy Garcia's and Ronny Cedeno's of the market and try to stow them away in AAA until needed.
From what I understand, Adams may not be available to start the season. Agreed on Rosenberg, he can compete with the others for spots. DeFratus is another who is borderline ready. Bastardo will likely be back as well.
Worst. Phillies. Offense. Ever. (That I can remember since watching regularly)
Cameron Rupp Chooch's backup next year? Just throwing some ideas out there.
Rupp looks like a good catcher.Kratz really faltered from June till now. He had what? 1 RBI since then.Hopefully Joseph and or Valle will rebound next year and become top prospects again. Valle is likely in make it or break it year. But first Ruiz needs to be resigned or the team is looking for a starter.
