Papelbon's Excuse- "Sh*t Happens"

*Mike Adams is likely done for the year with 3 tears in his right shoulder.  His 2 YR/$12M contract looks like a sunk cost now.  What does Amaro do right anymore?

*Amaro doesn't know if the Phils with call up Zambrano or not because "he's been inconsistent".  Well, Lannan has been consistent...consistently bad.  Yet he's allowed to continue floundering in the rotation while Big Z isn't even given a chance.  Hmm...

*In more good news, the Phillies are going to be patient with Delmon Young because he's what they refer to as a slow starter.  It's glaringly obvious they have no clue what the hell they speak of, because they are as stupid as wearing socks with sandals.  Yeah, that stupid.

If you get rid of the "Phil" in Phillies you are left with "lies".

I miss Pat Gillick.

I understand that no one is perfect, but when you're paid $13M for what amounts to about 18 hours of work (70 innings a season, about 15 min an inning) I would think perfection is pretty much expected. He should be tougher on himself and admit to making mistakes to the fans who make his salary possible rather than being a douche about everything. I hope he gets traded although we have no better alternative...

Adams may be good next year but as for this year he is done.

Im not sure Z is an upgrade over Lannan, I think Lannan needs to start a bit more to see what he has.

But as for D Young, he needs to go. If Rube traded for a RF and a good one at that I think it would help incredibly. All depends on health of the others too.

Papelbomb probably bombed his All Star chances, KK is borderline AS right now.

Nate Schierholtz, who the Phils let go, would be a nice RF to have- .300/.926, 19 DBL, 11 HR, with good defense. Amaro is an idiot!!!!!!!!

I'm being selfish in that I want to see the Big Z show for entertainment purposes alone.

Speaking of Schierholtz, the Phillies also ditched a fellow who could play RF by the name of Hunter Pence (22 dbl, 12 HR, 40 RBI, .292 avg, .830 OPS)

If I were A GM (re-thought after Monday's Game):

Papelbon, M. Young, Rollins should be traded (D. Young if you can find someone foolish enough). The Phillies will probably be Marlins bad down the stretch, but I'm ok with that- I'd rather have a serious commitment to rebuilding than a few meaningless wins in a lost season.

Offseason- Let Chooch and Halladay Walk. Use the cash on hand from all this unloading to sign a real right fielder (Ellsbury if you want to spend real big, Pence is acctualy available, Nate McClouth and Jason Kubel are also options).Rebuild the bullpen FROM SCRATCH. I mean this- everyone but Bastardo starts at ZERO and is expendable. Re-sign Utley.

2014: Call up Biddle, Asche, Hernandez, perhaps Joseph if he's ready. See where you go with that. Re-assess next July, if the future still looks grim, time to trade Lee.

The 2013 version of Cole Hamels is a poor pitcher. He's not good. Honestly, boo!

Laynce Nix in May and June: .167/.239/.190 with one extra base hit. And yet Darin Ruf still festers away in the minors.

Beer-a-Thon said...

Not that Darin Ruf is a cure-all, but Nix stinks. So does most of the team though...

Without the Chooch passed ball
the Phillies would have Swept in
San Diego.

Bullpen is the Problem.

Teams do not give up really good stuff when you blow up a team.

If you got something great for Papelbon great. But you won't.

Blowing up a team because you are mad, is childish.

Biddle, Asche, Hernandez, perhaps Joseph are not ready.

Perhaps Darren Daulton should be this year's nominee for the WSBGM's Hall of Fame.

Good luck and God speed sir.
