I'm not going to overstate its importance, but it needs to be said that both the pitchers and the lineup miss Chooch's presence. Everyone saw Hamels' body language last night. He was clearly uncomfortable out there.

Nevermind that Kratz appears to have attended the Jimmy Rollins school of working the pitcher wherein he swings at the first or second pitch in 3 out of every 4 trips to the plate.

It's a long season. I would actually encourage this team to spend the first inning of a game against the next number 4 starter they face leaving the bat on their shoulder the entire time. I mean it. Literally force the pitcher to throw strikes. If they go down on nine pitches, so be it. It's an excercise that should happen.

7 straight games they haven't scored in the first 5 innings. Might as well start working the count. This team's inability to draw a walk or get on base safely is a huge cause for concern. It's been a downward trend for the past 4 seasons.

Whats a walk?

Howards got an injured groin. Maybe we actually have a shot to win a ballgame now.

Bold prediction of the night: Frandsen goes 3/4 with a homerun and two singles, the final hit being a walkoff.

Holy crap, the Phils scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings.

Also, Doc hasn't been terrible.

Charlie was smart and sat Howard against a lefty.

Turning point?

I do not understand. What is this "8" symbol under the "R" for the Phillies?

A win!

Well, so much for my "bold prediction." Great game all around, though. Could be a turning point.

You know, I find it interesting that, since the second half of last seasons, the Phils have been playing their best ball when the backups are in. Quintero sure proved his mettle tonight. Chances that he stays when Chooch gets back and Kratz gets sent down?

GM-Carson said...

Kratz is better than Quintero.

Just my opinion.

May I simply say what a relief to uncover someone that genuinely understands
what they are talking about on the web. You certainly
know how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
More and more people should look at this and understand this
side of your story. I can't believe you aren't more popular since you surely possess the gift.
