Cliche Alert- "It's Only Spring Training"

A day after the Phillies pitching staff 1-hit the Pirates for a shutout win, Cole Hamels "got behind the 8-ball" and allowed 8 earned runs on 12 hits over 2.2 innings.  While facing the Dominican Republic WBC squad is more of a challenge than the lowly Buccos, it remains disheartening nonetheless.  After Hamels departed, Ethan Martin came in and gave up 3 more runs.  Current score is 11-1 heading into the bottom of the 5th.  Don't worry though, "it's only spring training".  It's not like Cole Hamels is the staff ace or anything.  He was probably just "working on his fastball" and still "felt good" despite the results.  Freakin' cliches!

TWENTY FIVE! TWENTY FIVE HITS! AH AH AH! (Thunder)

No excuse, but that's not exactly the softest lineup. Better than almost any team will put out there any day of the week.

They were all seeing eye base hits

The REAL cliche' is actually caring about the results of ST games, and wringing your hands about it. Get over it...

Anonymous- will you be saying "get over it" when the Phillies are a .500 team again this season?

By the way, never said I cared about ST games.

Fun fact: Dom Brown leads all of the MLB so far this spring in runs scored with 12. Ryan Howard leads all of the MLB so far this spring in RBI, with 11. Not to shabby.

Here is your opening day Roster Remember where you heard it first.

Infielders
Howard
Utley
Rollins
Young
Frandsen
Betencourt

Outfielders
Brown
Revere
Mayberry
Nix
Inciarte

Starters
Hamels
Halladay
Lee
Kendrick
Lanaan

Bullpen
Paplebon
Adams
Durbin
Bastardo
Horst
Aumont
Rodrigo Lopez

The Phils will decide Ruf needs to work on his outfield skills in AAA. And Galvis is better off playing every day.
The only one I'm not absolutely sure of Is Rodrigo. If Defratus starts pitching better he will take the bullpen spot. But I don't think he will. He will however be the first call up from the minors when someone in the pen goes down.

I don't foresee a situation right now in which Rodrigo Lopez breaks camp with the Phils. Too many true relievers to choose from before going with him- Raul Valdes, Jake Diekman, BJ Rosenberg, Michael Stutes, Justin De Fratus, Zach Miner, and Joe Savery.

I agree with your infield and outfield though.

so we should be taking Howard's BA seriously?
