Crazy idea- how about trading Ryan Howard to Boston for John Lackey.
Lackey sucks, but his contract is far less. Red Sox need a first baseman. Maybe they could throw Pedro Ciraco in on the deal.
We're stuck with Howard for two more years. At that point, there will be little enough money left on his albatross contract that if we eat half of it, we can trade him to an AL team where he can DH. Until then, we can enjoy negative wins at 1B.
