Phillies Season in Purgatory Limbo
The Phillies certainly aren't doing themselves any favors by losing 2 out of 3 so far to the worst team in the Majors in possibly the last 20 years. Seriously, the Astros are that bad. I understand that baseball is unpredictable and shit happens, but to get skunked last night with the arms Houston ran out to the mound is inexcusable. They need to salvage the series with a win this afternoon and then regroup for the remainder of the 2012 schedule. They're not out of it, but this weekend has not put them in it either. This is the equivalent to purgatory, smack dab between heaven and hell.
Today's matchup: Roy Halladay toes the slab in search of his 199th career victory. Jordan Lyles goes for the 'stros, he of only 6 MLB wins and a career 5.34 ERA. In other words, if the Phillies don't win this game, then they don't deserve a shot at October baseball.
