Will he or won't he? Depending on how the question was phrased, the answer could be yes or no. Will Cole Hamels sign with the Phillies? Will Cole Hamels be dealt at the trade deadline?
He signed! Now breathe a collective sigh of relief, because Ol' Girl Parts is a Phillie for the next 6 or 7 seasons. 6 years $144M to be exact with a vesting option that could push it to 7 years.
Honestly, I'm glad he's signed. However, that is a ton of money locked up in not many players heading into the 2013 season (Halladay, Lee, Howard, Utley, Kendrick, Papelbon, Pence, Ruiz, Rollins, Nix, and now Hamels will account for roughly $150M). If the Phillies intend on remaining below the luxury tax ($178M), they're going to have to get very creative with salaries/signings if they want to contend. Or you could trade Cliff Lee to fill some roster holes and give some salary relief. Hmm...how'd that work out before? Whatever, let's just be happy Hamels is staying with us and worry about how Amaro will eff it up later.

Wow. I'm thrilled, and proud that a player liked us enough to possibly put up with rebuilding for a long time (then again, for 24 million a year, I would too). I somehow kind of doubt Lee is going anywhere, though, so I think the Phillies are going to go at least one year over the Luxury Tax threshold. With those financial constraints, I would not worry too much about the 'pen (we can try out De Fratus and Aumont, plus Stutes will be healthy and Schwimmer seems to be starting to find his feet), and just try to get a decent 3B and CF. Some combo of Brown/Nix/Mayberry can play Left Field.
It is time to give Com another Chanel. His stats weren't that bad. Pierre needs to be traded for possibly a future bullpen arm.
goodbye hunter. goodbye cliff.

Good bye no one except Blanton
Goodbye $4.50 Turkey Hill Iced Tea at the Bank.
Was hoping to goodbye Polly, but his bum ass just got DL 'd. No trade value there.
Polanco's contract is now officially worse than Ibanez's. It's not Baez bad, but it's one of RAJ's less successful tries.
