Phillies relievers not named Papelbon or Qualls have a combined 5.26 ERA this season.
I'm still confused as to why Papelbon didn't pitch. He's pitched 3 out of the past 4 games, but Charlies said he would have brought him into the game in the 9th or later had the Phils had the lead.
Bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That drives me crazy. These retarded managers and their "closers rules" need to stop. It's about winning ball games, not saving the 9th inning for the almighty closer. If the closer is needed in the 7th or 8th, then bring them in to douse the fire. Don't wait for the game to get tied or be losing, hence rendering the closer useless by their definition because it's no longer a f'n save sitaution.
If you want Manuel gone, you should root for a 15 game loosing streak or something. The "real fans" love him too much because we was lucky enough to preside over a championship team despite his best efforts. He's not going anywhere, which I'm no more happy about than you.
it's sad but i'm still pissed off that charlie didn't us papelboner in the 8th inning last night. then i read this from matt gelb's blog:
Manuel had a decision: Schwimer or Sanches. That was the decision, he said, and not Jonathan Papelbon for a five-out save.
"We never do that," Manuel said. "It's just not the way it is. Papelbon is in the ninth inning for a save. When we ever have a lead, when we start the ninth inning, he's gonna save."
HUGE game by Heavy B! Gave the whole bullpen a day off after last night. I'm still pissed though. This should have been a sweep!!! Fing Cholly. We are about to go get swept by the Nats though.
Halladay is retreating to a native Inuit shrine in Yukon he discovered once while pitching for the Blue Jays that he maintains first gave him his immortal focus, which manifests itself in baseball games as his "death stare"
Despite the mishap, this was an encouraging series. We scored 4 runs or more in every game, and even though Halladay and the pen faltered, Hammels looks dominant as ever and Blanton looks like he is bouncing back well enough to be cashed in for a bat come July 31st. Overall, happy.

Halladay has left the team for personal matters. Dubee said he's not hurt.
I am worried.
I remember a situation with another Roy last year that seems similar.
it's more likely that whatever the "personal situation" is affected doc's concentration, etc.
Doc looked spent last night. His face was redder than a cherry.
Well, looks like we need another starter. Who's up for hitting up the Rockies with a trade for Moyer?
I take that back, Lee should be back very soon. But this still sucks.

get the fuck out of here. i need a drink...
oh yeah, and freddy "glove of god" galvis is on a 4-33 tear.
Manuel is stoopid.
I am also still pissed about last night. I always hate when the phils lose, but nothing infuriates me more than when it's our managers fault.

Joe Blanton has been good this year so far.
Get Lee back and hopefully peaceful-minded Halladay and this rotation is nasty!
