Phillies (3-3) v. New York Metropolitans (4-2) Pitching Matchups:
Friday, 7:05 - Cliff Lee v. RA Dickey
Saturday, 4:05 - Vance Worley v. Jon Niese
Sunday, 1:35 - Cole Hamels v. Mike Pelfrey
Muts Batting:
Runs - 18 (28th)
Avg - .251 (10th)
Slug - .382 (16th)
Muts Pitching:
ERA - 3.00 (11th)
WHIP - 1.39 (25th)
BAA - .231 (13th)
Their Freddy Galvis:
Ike Davis - The former first round pick and 2012 Fantasy Sleeper is not starting the season the way many predicted. He picked up his first hit of the season on Wednesday and he currently is 1-20. That's good for a .050 average and .186 OPS.
Their Danys Baez:
Miguel Batista - It might be time for the 41 year old Batista to call it quits. Sure, he's only pitched 2.1 innings, but he's given up 2 hits and 5 walks in that short time.
Their JD Drew:
All of them. It's the Mets.
What We're Drinking:Corey - I have plans to plop myself on the couch Saturday afternoon and actually watch a full Phillies game, which can be a rare occasion these days. Since Jon Niese and his gigantic nose is pitching for the Mets, I think I'll head to Wegman's for a sixer of Shoals Pale Ale from Smuttynose Brewing. Delicious! Just hoppy enough so you know you're drinking an American pale ale, but smooth enough to drink the entire sixer without getting that nasty, dry "hop mouth."
Carson - Miller High Life longneck bottles and Yuengling Premium. My buddy from North Carolina is up for the weekend and I have a fridge full fo beer. It will be empty by tomorrow.
What We're Listening To:
Corey - Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses - We built this blog on beating dead horses, so why not listen to some? The latest album from this band, Junky Star, charted in the top ten of the Billboard Country (2) and Rock (8) charts. Wikipedia describes it as 'Americana.' Okay, whatever. It's good, give it a listen, then obtain the whole album by whatever means necessary.
Carson - TBA
Magic Number Watch:
The Phils are not in first place. :(
Prediction:
Sweep? No, not with this offense. Phils still take two from the already-peaked Mets.

1. Niese had offseason plastic surgery to his nose, paid for by Carlos Beltran.
2. I love that "nasty, dry hop mouth".
ha! i forgot about the nose job. i linked to an article with a before and after...
I want to get something off my chest. I absolutely love the name "Metropolitans." I think it may be the best franchise name in all of baseball. It's a GD shame that they play in NY, have shortened it to the stupid name "Mets", and suck as much as they do.
Just like the Knickerbockers have been shortened to the Knicks. Unfortunate.
just the philadelphians have been shortened to phillies. and "national bird of the united states of america that will never win a super bowl" has been shortened to eagles.
by the way, freddy galvis has done it! 20 at-bats, 19 outs made. that's a ratio > 1, so i have to stop making fun of him...
Nope, not gonna do it.
Today is my last day at my current job. I highly recommend quitting, as long as you've got something else lined up.
Everyone comes by - including the attractive women that you only work with on occasion - and thanks you for all your hard work, which, unfortunately is not something they do normally. Coworkers take you out to lunch, friends buy you drinks, and you get to dish out advice that you might normally not be asked to provide.
PJ is going to go dark for a while while I settle into my new position in a new city. Someone in MD thought it'd be a good idea to give me a leadership position.
I'll still enjoy reading the blog in my spare time. Keep up the good work GMs.
thanks. we'll be here. we have nothing better to do...
Good luck with your new job Jon. Make sure to swing by and leave a comment when you can.
Jim Thome, Laynce Nix, and Brian Schneider are a combined 0-14 with a 5 K.
Yeah bench!
im feeling a sweep. predicting Thome hits his first bomb in the series. Hamels bounces back.. Tonight is a win. The middle game is the one that worries me a little. But I'm saying sweep.
Phils signed Mike Fontenot to a minor league deal. He's better than Peter Orr and Freddy Galvis. Good move.
Really.....Did Cliff really Just Jason Freakin Bay take him 20 rows deep?
He's better than pete orr.....he's not better than Freddy Galvis.
G Dang it!!! I'm already pissed off!!!!!
Aaron- Fontenot is better than Galvis with the bat. Just because the crowd has been cheering "Freddy" doesn't mean he's actually any good.
I didn't say he was good. I just think Freddy gives you very good defense and zero offense, while Fontenot provides adequate defense and zero offense.
hey carson, suck my D!@&.
/bat flip
Ha ha........Freddy wakes up and hits bombs.....that what he does.
I really hate lance Nix
Can't wait!
Galvis to M&M to Thome.
Double-play, and Back! to Back!! to Back!!! HRs!!!!
Like clockwork- Phils lack of offense.
