Over/Under- Shane Victorino

The Flyin' Hawaiian is entering his final season of his contract extension and is set to entertain free agent offers should the Phillies pass on re-upping him. Shane is a sparkplug. He makes things happen with tremendous speed, defense, and deceptive power. Among National League outfielders last season, Victorino was second to only Matt Kemp in WAR (5.9).

Championship clubs know strong defense up the middle is needed, and with Chooch, J-Roll, Utley, and Victorino they have that. Keeping that in place is important and I'm confident Victorino will give them every reason to continue doing so with a stellar 2012 campaign. For what it's worth, he has hinted that he'll sign a hometown discount to remain in Philly because he loves it here and has lots of connections with the community.

2012 Projection:
Shane Victorino/CF - 154 G, .282/.803, 102 R, 31 DBL, 11 TRPL, 15 HR, 72 RBI, 21 SB.

Over or under?

Tid-Bits:
*Amaro is shopping Joe Blanton and telling possible trade partners that the Phillies are willing to eat up to $2M of his $8M contract. I'd like to see this deal done in order to create some payroll flexibility. The move would put Kyle Kendrick in the 5th of the rotation with Joel Pineiro on deck. Love me some Heavy B, but it's time to save money and move on.

*Jimmy Rollins on Cole Hamels- “He’s not going anywhere. He was drafted by this organization, raised by this organization and became a superstar in this organization. If you know anything about this organization, that means he’s not going anywhere. I don’t give a damn about the luxury tax or nothing. It’s not a financial situation. You sell out a hundred something straight games, they have plenty enough money to sign a pitcher like Cole Hamels."

*Because I love beating a dead horse until it's even deader...Aren't you glad Amaro bid against himself 2 years ago and extended Ryan Howard to the organizational friendly contract of 5 years $125M? Just imagine would he would have gotten on the free agent market this offseason while wearing that boot. I mean, my goodness, he could have gotten Pujols or Prince money right? Idiot.

I am happy, and you are Dead Wrong. Without that Contract we would not have ahd the Golden Age of the Phillies or the Division Titles, or even have Halladay or Lee join us.

Ryan Howard has earned every Penny so far and even this year's Contract if he does not record an At Bat.

In the Fall of 2013 you can start recording how much money is wasted until you get to the end of the Contract and most likely it will still be worth the Golden Age.

Go root for the Mets.

You never complained about Pat Burrell's wasted millions.

Ryan Howard's contract extension is NOT the reason Halladay or Lee are with the Phillies. Howard was not set to hit free agency until this past offseason. It's a shitty contract, really shitty. That's the truth. Arguing against that is stupid.
