2011 NL East Center Field Rankings

Being strong up the middle is a focus for most winning clubs, and that means strong defense at catcher, shortstop, second base, and today's NL East position being ranked- center field.

Stats- AVG/OPS, Runs, Doubles, Triples and Homeruns or Extra Base Hits, Runs Batted In, Stolen Bases, and Offensive Wins Above Replacement.

2011 NL East Center Field Rankings:
1. Shane Victorino/Phillies .279/.847, 95 R, 27 DBL, 16 TRPL, 17 HR, 61 RBI, 19 SB, 4.6 OWAR.

2. Angel Pagan/Mets .262/.694, 68 R, 35 XBH, 56 RBI, 32 SB, 1.9 OWAR.

3. Rick Ankiel/Nationals .239/.659, 46 R, 29 XBH, 37 RBI, 10 SB, 0.4 OWAR.

4. Nate McLouth/Braves .228/.677, 35 R, 18 XBH, 16 RBI, 0.8 OWAR.

5. Chris Coghlan/Marlins .230/.664, 33 R, 26 XBH, 22 RBI, 0.2 OWAR.

Notes- aside from the Flyin' Hawaiian, this is a lackluster group and therefore will be undergoing a makeover for the 2012 season. Andres Torres takes over the for the Mets, Michael Bourn continues roaming CF for the Braves (came via trade in '11), Emilio Bonifacio likely gets the gig for Miami, and Roger Bernadina probably is the starter in Washington.

It's always darkest before dawn and January are the doldrums of baseball news before the daybreak of Pitchers and Catchers reporting in one month's time. Thanks GMs for giving me a reason to hold onto hope during the dark winter months of baseball's absence. Keep up the good work.

Phils might sign Jeremey Accardo to a minor league deal. He'll help with bullpen depth at AAA.

One thing the Phils are deep in, is relief pitchers.

What do you think the chances are of the Phils inking Kerry Wood? I don't know all the financial aspects but he seems like a good fit for the set role, provided the money works out. I want another WS but I also want enough cap space to bring back Girl Parts and Vic.

I'd love to see the Phils sign Hamels to a backloaded extension. 5 yr $90M seems about right.

Wood would (hahaha- get it?) be a nice addition to the bullpen.

Phillies released John Bowker. Oh, darn!

40-man roster now has only 39 members. Bowker is going to pursue baseball in Japan.

With Bowker leaving we may see a roster move imminent. My guess a relief pitcher or a 5th Of

Thinking about signing another relative geriatric in Woods. Dicking around with resigning Hamels to a longterm deal. The exact same lineup we saw in the (choke) 2011 season. Helluva off-season so far. C'mon Rube!

At least Madson got a deal...ha!

Madson Signing with the Reds.

Phillies will receive the 14th Pick in the Draft.

Whoopee!!!! Could be 1 or 2 picks lower
if another team below the Reds loses a Free Top Free Agent.

Lowest Draft Pick since 2001 Gavin Floyd.

Lower = Worse Pick

Madson's 1 year deal makes me laugh. He really overestimated his worth. 1 year of closing experience doesn't land you a 4 yr/$40M deal bro!
