Clever. "settling" for something like 4 yrs for $32 mil wouldn't be so bad.
Part of the haggling game. This is about aiming for a fourth year or option. Always start high
the same as mine.(what is he asking for?)
He wants 5 years, he's said that much. Money hasn't been voiced, but it's likely $10M+ per year.
fairly reasonable.Team needs to come fairly close on counter-offer.3+2 options/35 mil or that 4/32 mil sounds ok.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/11/phillies-madson-nearing-four-year-deal-.htmlfar too much, but it is what it is. Closers are a waste of money.
that was me above. My wife never logs out of gmail.....
5:07pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown confirms the sides are discussing a deal worth $44MM over four years plus a fifth-year option for $13MM (Twitter links). Nothing is official yet.1 Year too many.3 Mil Per year too much.
Amaro spends like a drunken sailor, but I approve of the Madson rumor. I worry if this revenue doesn't keep steady what will happen. I already think the sellout streak ends in April.
That contract is stupid. Just like Ryan Howard's contract is stupid.Nobody would come close to paying Howard that money and now I wonder if anybody would pay Madson close to that money. Amaro constantly outbids himself.
I wonder about Amaro overpaying too. What's up with that? No necessity to do that with Howard, and not much reason to do it with the Big Toe now. Maybe Rollins will get his 5/$10mil yet!
4yrs$11mil w/5yr option
