Series Preview - Rockies

Philadelphia Phillies (68-39) vs. Colorado Rockies (51-57)

Season Series:
Philles 1-1 Rockies

Pitching Matchups:
Monday, 8:40 - Cole Hamels v. Jhoulys Chacin
Tuesday, 8:40 - Kyle Kendrick v. Aaron Cook
Wednesday, 3:10 - Roy Halladay v. Jason Hammel

Mountains Batting:
Runs - 483 (10th)
AVG - .255 (14th)
OBP - .327 (9th)
SLG - .405 (11th)

Mountains Pitching:
ERA - 4.25 (25th)
WHIP - 1.35 (23rd)
BAA - .259 (20th)

Their Michael Martinez:
Ian Stewart - While Stewart might have loads more potential and ability than Michael Martinez, he sure is hitting poorly this season. The former first round pick and Futures Game participant is batting only .149-0-4 in 109 at-bats through Saturday. He hit 25 homers two seasons ago and thirty one season in the minors so there's hope for Ian Stewart but then again, if he can't hit the ball out in Colorado...

Their Danys Baez:
There are currently no batting practice pitchers on the Rockies active roster.

What We're Drinking:
Corey - Coke Zero. I'd like to be drinking Plymouth Gin Navy Strength, though. I had this gin for the first time this week served on the rocks with a hint of sweet vermouth and I can't stop thinking about how good it was. Plymouth Navy Strength is bottled at 57% abv (114 proof), the traditional strength at which, if it happened to spill on gunpowder on board Royal Navy ships, the gunpowder would still ignite. Unfortunately, it's not sold in the states. Only the 80 proof version is apparently fit for sale in the "nifty fifty." So unless I can get to England, or Barbados (or Canada?) I'll be sipping on diet soda.

Carson - Arnold Palmer. Half lemonade, half iced tea. I make my own using Walmart calorie-free drink mixes in a big gallon pitcher.

Magic Number:

Two wins.

prediction: Kyle Kendricks last start before the Phils clinch a playoff berth. Come on Oswalt!!!

GM-Carson said...

Bob D- I agree, as long as Oswalt and everyone else stays healthy.

KK goes back to the bullpen then, so who is optioned down? Perez I or Herndon?

Bob D said...

Herndon, as Perez is lefty and has been good to really good outside of one bad appearance when he thought the dirt was the strike zone

Rando said...

I bet Herndon stays up...Perez needs to work on his poise a bit more.

According to MLB Trade Rumors the Phils released Danys Baez.

GM-Carson said...

Baez Sucks. The Astros (aka- Ed Wade) will pick him up.

How about that!

30 games above .500! Woooo!

Maybe now I can get some work done...

This team is amazing. Loving it.

Mayberry is proving his worth. To think we got him for Greg Golson.

This is arguably the most enjoyable Phillies team to watch right now.

i agree with carson's pittsburgh/pnc comment except for the part about getting around the city. pittsburgh is the home of the saying, "you can't get there from here." before GPS the place was a bitch to drive around.

for good sandwiches, try fat head's on the south side.
