Their Michael Martinez:
Mike Fontenot - This former first round pick by the Orioles (19th overall in 2001) has a career .263 average. However, he's down to .208 this season. He lacks power (24 career homers) and speed (17 career steals) but he can play all the infield spots so he'll probably stick around until his average dips below .180.
Their Danys Baez:
Dan Runzler had a 6.41 ERA in 18 appearances before being booted. Barry Zito and his 5.62 ERA is currently on the DL. The pitcher on the active roster with the highest ERA is reliever Guillermo Mota at 4.14.
What We're Drinking:
Corey - Sangria. I've never made sangria before. Hell, I've never even drank sangria before, but I'm going to try it this weekend. Right now my plan is to throw some brandy and fruit into a pitcher along with a bottle of red wine. If anybody has an actual recipe throw it in the comment section. Thanks.
Carson - Troegs Scratch #45 & #46. A "scratch beer" is a one time production, so it's limited release to the mid-state...where luckily, I live. #45 is an IPA with a lingering bitterness and citrus nose. #46 is Naked Elf Ale, which is a stripped down version of their enormously popular Christmas brew Mad Elf.
There will be many mentions in the media ('net, newspaper, TV) about how this is a "playoff preview" and how the Giants "have the Phillies' number" and that the Phils need wins to get "confidence" and more bullshit along this line. Then the Phils will win 2 of 4 and people will realize that this series means absolutely nothing when predicting future meetings. We'll all move on to the next series and this one will not be mentioned again until these two teams meet in the playoffs. Then we'll have to hear all of this crap again.
Check out the pic and article about the Williamsport Crosscutters bus accident. Scary.
In national news, Alex Rodriguez is being investigated for playing a few hands of poker for money. This should be no big deal but let's all hope A-Rod stays out of trouble because I know another superstar who plays a few hands now and then... Roy Halladay!
