Series Preview - Mets

Philadelphia Phillies (57-34) @ Flushing Queens (46-45)

Pitching Matchups:
Friday, 7:10 - Vance Worley v. RA Dickey
Saturday, 4:10 - Cole Hamels v. Jon Niese
Sunday, 1:10 - Kyle Kendrick v. Mike Pelfrey

Season Series:
Philles 6 - 3 Mets

Muts Batting:
Runs - 399 (11th)
AVG - .262 (7th)
OBP - .333 (4th)
SLG - .389 (17th)

No David Wright. No Jose Reyes. No Ike Davis. And I wouldn't be surprised if Carlos Beltran is traded before the first pitch. Not much to fear here.

Muts Pitching:
ERA - 3.95 (17th)
WHIP - 1.33 (21st)
BAA - .256 (19th)

This is the fourth series against the Mets so I'm sure everybody is familiar with the starters. As for the bullpen, who's going to close games now that K-Rod is gone? Parnell or Byrdak or Beato or... Jason Isringhausen? Who knows, but we probably won't find out this weekend since the Mets are unlikely to win a game.

Their Michael Martinez:
Brad Emaus - The 25 year old Emaus was taken by the Mets in the first round of the Rule 5 draft after hitting .290-15-75 in the minors between AA and AAA. During Spring Training he won the starting job at second. However, after 14 games and 42 at-bats, Emaus was hitting only .162 with a .424 OPS. So the Mets cut bait and offered him back to Toronto. Emaus has since been traded to Colorado and his currently hitting .313-9-28 in Colorado Springs.

Their Danys Baez:
DJ Carrasco - In 24 innings pitched, Carrasco has a 5.14 ERA and has walked 11 compared to only 12 strikeouts. Fortunately for the Mets they signed him to a two year deal this winter so he has another year to "figure it out."

What We're Drinking:
Corey - Brooklyn Lager - I generally don't drink much lager because around my area "lager" mean Yuengling and I'm not much of a fan. And many other lagers are pretty bland, generic or skunky, over-priced European shit (see: Heineken). But Brooklyn Lager is something different. It's smooth and refreshing as you would expect from the style, but because they dry-hop this beer, there's much more hop aroma than other amber lagers. It's a great session beer for the summer, especially while watching the Phils crush the Mets!

Carson - prune juice. Need to cleanse my system.

Umpire Mets Need To Win Series:
This guy.

Prediction:
Something funky will happen and the Phils will lose one. So, two of three for the good guys.

M&M will again be the Series MVP
just like the last two Series.

Hopefully we can do one of those Old Time Fashion Trades when the two teams playing each other make a Trade, and the players just walk over to the other dugout.

Beltran is the Key pickup for the Phillies here.

M&M for Beltran straight up

Here's what I figure will happen, the Phils will pickup another bat in August via a waiver wire deal. This team has what it takes to win the division, yet in the playoffs an extra bat would be good for the bench. However Mayberry has been real good since his return a few Hrs and doubles. With Vic's return soon Orr goes back and after him it maybe Francisco.
For the playoffs the Phils will likely carry an extra batter too especially with this pitching staff.

This team has what it takes to make it to the playoffs. 1 bad week in October means losing a series though, which isn't as big a deal during the season. An extra bat would be great. Carlos Beltran would be great.

By the way, how the hell did that umpire call that a strike 3. Wow.

Kendrick is starting Sunday now instead of Lee, so Corey was correct in predicting no sweep.

You know, I was not a fan of Heineken until I visited their brewery/museum and took the tour. The best brewery tour I've ever been on. It was 7-8 euros/person but you get two small beers in the middle of the tour and two tall beers at the end. Anyway, they did an excellent job explaining their brew process as you walk through their old brewery - beer not actually brewed there anymore. My wife and I also came home with a personalized bottle, so that was cool.

If you're in Amsterdam, I highly recommend taking the tour, along with hitting up the Rijksmuseum, and taking in the local, um, culture.

Also, I don't think the Phils would trade for a corner outfield bat - unless Ibanez becomes completely worthless - because it would take playing time away from DBrown. This would potentially stunt his growth. I think Charlie deserves credit for how he's brought Brown along. He's not known for developing younger players, but Brown has taken some strides in the past month. Perhaps he is realizing the potential we all hoped he possessed.

Polanco to DL and Madson activated today

Bob D said...

If Brown, Ibanez, Mayberry hit well in the 2nd half - then no need for a trade for OF

If Madson and maybe Lidge come in and do well then no bullpen help

But they are big ifs

Juan Perez has been impressive in just limited appearances

Pirates have a share of first! When was the last time that happened outside of April?

Bob D said...

Pirates are awesome this year

Thoughts:
1. Stutes hasn't been very good over the last few weeks.

2. Juan Perez deserves a continued look.

3. Keep Brad Lidge away from this bullpen until he starts doing well in the minors.

4. I still think the Pirates will finish the season with a losing record.

5. Vance Worley is good.

The two most common elements in the world are hydrogen and stupidity.
Don't drown the man who taught you to swim.
Besides Buy RS Gold , Engineers can make lots of fun items in the game. You get to make Eden Eternal flying machines and only Engineers can make and ride motorcycles in the game. You can make repair bots to repair you and your group in raids and you can make Eden Eternal Review to mail from raids too. With the engineering skill one can make bombs, trinkets, ammunition, parts of the armor, and various gadgets such as repair bots and jumper cables for resurrection and even mounts and flying vehicles.Engineering is definitely the most fun profession one can have. But it is also very expensive and time taking to level up Eden Eternal Gold
