We're halfway through the 2011 season and the Phillies, despite they're offensive struggles, are still atop the heap. Below are June's stats and grades for each of the players.Offense:
*#/# = AVG/OPS
Carlos Ruiz/C .221/.606, 5 R, 2 XBH, 6 RBI. Chooch continues to do a great job handling the pitching staff, but his lack of hitting hurt at the bottom of the lineup this month. Grade: C-.
Ryan Howard/1B .269/.870, 12 R, 4 DBL, 5 HR, 22 RBI. Howard's claim to fame is being a huge 2nd half performer, so lets hope the power comes then. Grade: B+.
Chase Utley/2B .297/.860, 10 R, 4 DBL, 3 TRPL, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 3 SB. Aside from the lack of homeruns, he's really starting to look like the "Chase Utley, you are the man!" days. Grade: A-.
Placido Polanco/3B .213/.545, 6 R, 3 XBH, 10 RBI. The two oldest players in the lineup, Polly and Raul, are struggling the most. Who could have predicted that? Me! Grade: F.
Jimmy Rollins/SS .239/.716, 16 R, 3 DBL, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 4 SB. Wonder what type of contract J-Roll expects this offseason? I'd offer 2 yr $10M. Grade: C.
Raul Ibanez/LF .221/.595, 5 R, 6 DBL, 1 HR, 5 RBI. Remember when Amaro signed the old man to a 3 year deal and we bitched about it? Yeah, turns out we were right. We Should Be GMs. Grade: D-.
Shane Victorino/CF .303/.893, 25 R, 6 DBL, 3 TRPL, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 4 SB. This here's the MVP of the team and should be an All-Star. Grade: A.
Domonic Brown/RF .165/.612, 8 R, 3 DBL, 4 HR, 8 RBI. Starting to get that over-hyped feeling on this kid, but then again he's still just a kid. Grade: F.
Bench Boys-
Ben Francisco/OF .189/.537. He had the opportunity of a lifetime this season and blew it. Grade: F.
Ross Gload/PH .417/1.045. Glad he didn't go on the DL. Grade: A.
Wilson Valdez/UTL .229/.603. Honestly, I like Valdez, he does what a utility infielder should. Grade: C.
Michael Martinez/UTL .200/.583. Screw Michael Martinez! Grade: Who gives a shit?
Pitching:
*#:# = BB:K & #/# = ERA/WHIP
Roy Halladay 3-0, 5 GS, 36 IP, 3:32, 2.00/0.92. Going for the Cy Young repeat? Grade: A+.
Cliff Lee 5-0, 5 GS, 42 IP, 8:29, 0.21/0.69. Cy Young challenger? Grade: Is there a letter that comes before A?
Cole Hamels 2-2, 6 GS, 41.1 IP, 6:32, 1.31/0.80. Also a Cy Young challenger? Grade: A+.
Kyle Kendrick 1-1, 4 G, 3 GS, 19 IP, 2:7, 3.32/1.16. This guy comes in handy season after season. Grade: B.
Vance Worley 1-0, 3 GS, 18 IP, 8:12, 1.00/1.06. Blanton and Oswalt's injuries suck, but at least it gives The Vanimal a chance to show what he's capable of. Grade: A+.
Ryan Madson 1-0, 7 G, 7 IP, 3 SV, 3:8, 2.57/1.57. Currently on the DL with bruised hand, hoping Hamels doesn't have to venture Madson's way too. Grade: B.
Antonio Bastardo 11 G, 9.2 IP, 2 SV, 4 HLD, 4:7, 0.00/0.52. Check the stats, he's having arguably the best season of any reliever in baseball. Grade: A+.
Michael Stutes 3-0, 12 G, 14.1 IP, 4 HLD, 9:13, 3.14/1.05. The kids are alright. Grade: B.
Baez Sucks 0-1, 5 G, 6.1 IP, 4:4, 11.37/1.89. If I were GM, and dammit I should be, his ass would be released. Grade: F.
David Herndon 0-2, 8 G, 11.2 IP, 2:10, 2.31/1.46. He's doing better, but still too hittable. Grade: B-.
Brian Schneider, Dane Sardinha, Scott Mathieson, Juan Perez, Jose Contreras, Roy Oswalt, Mike Zagurksi, and Andrew Carpenter did not receive grades.

I hate the generosity of official scorers in today's game. That was an error on Utley all the way. Not a hit and an error. Horrible play by Chase that cost Roy 1 run, probably 2.
Also, Polanco is horrible anymore. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and he pops up to SS on the 1st pitch. C'mon!
It is too the point now that when they have a man on third with less than two outs that I expect them not too score.
Here is another reason our offense sucks. Vic gets a lead off walk down a run and does not try to steal. This team never runs, they don't bunt they don't hit and run. They just wait for homers from a team full of guys who don't hit homers.
...Utley hit a homerun.
I get your point though.
I'm very upset with Polanco. Check the stats, he's getting scary bad. Only reason his overall #'s aren't insufferable is his amazing April.
That was a crazy top of the 9th. Fan on field. Rauch goes ape shit on ump. Jays managers goes nutso on homeplate.
Whatever, Phils win.
Utley gets a Howard! Phils win.
The Howard wins ballgames
The Howard equals wins for the Phils. Nice!
Ahhh the Howard has returned today to Philly!
That Jon Rauch clip is awesome.
