Manuel wants Amaro to make some moves before the trade deadline and he's requesting a bat and an arm. More specifically a right-handed bat and a relief pitcher. From the mouth of Fuqua- "I'm talking about a good one. If we can find a good bat and we don't get a good reliever, well, then we'll take the good bat. I want somebody good. If we're going to get somebody, I want somebody good. I want somebody that's going to help us. I don't want to get what we've already got. I always think big. There's some guys out there. They're going to be hard to get. We'll see. Ruben and our front office, they do a pretty good job with that." Sitting near the brink of the luxury tax this will be a difficult task, but whatever, make it have Rube. Carlos Beltran and Mike Adams would look nice in red pinstripes.
About Last Night:
Last night sucked on many levels. Roy Halladay proved to be human, breaking down in the 5th inning due to heat exhaustion. Stupid sun. Stupid humidity.
The offense looked flat...again. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard are a combined 2-30 since the All-Star break. Now that's the type of production you expect from the 3 and 4 spots in your lineup right?
*Shane Victorino will be activated from the DL today and Pete Orr is the roster casualty.
*Placido Polanco's back isn't getting better and has requested a cortisone shot to help with the healing process. Yeah, more Michael Martinez. Yuck.
*Brad Lidge continues his rehab assignment and continues to make everybody nervous about his return to the Phillies and blowing games.
*Are Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton still alive?
