Magic Number Watch
The last Phillies pitcher to hit a triple was Cory Lidle against the Pirates in April of 2006.
I was very disappointed to see Ibanez break his hitless streak last night. Carlos Ruiz now has the longest active hitless streak on the team. He is 0 for his last 23.
Interesting note: Ibanez, despite all of his struggles, had as many extra-base hits yesterday that Derek Jeter has had all season. That would be the same Jeter who just got 3 years and $51 million.
Last of Vance?:
Fancy-Pants Vance takes the hill tonight but a week from now he'll probably be pulling on a FeHams hat in Allentown.
Blanton is eligible to come off the DL next Monday and, if all things go well with his throwing this week, he could make his next start then.
The Phillies are undefeated and J-Roll and Ibanez are both batting .500 since J-Roll was moved up to first in the order. Granted, the sample size is kind of small, but I don't think it's too early to call this genius-level move by Fuqua a complete success.
