Amaro To Get Paid

First it was manager Charles Fuqua Manuel being extended for 2 more years and now it appears GM Ruben Amaro Jr. will get the same treatment. According Philadelphia Daily News reporter Paul Hagen the extension is "virtually done" and the sides are simply "putting finishing touches" on the contract. From bat boy, to MLB player, to assistant GM, to smug GM, Rube sure has made a name for himself.

Below is a picture of Roy Halladay's black eye that he pitched with yesterday (went 6 shutout innings against the Yankees). He sustained the black eye during bunting drills. Why didn't Brett Myers use that excuse?

I bet he gave himself that black eye, as a punishment for not finishing his morning run quick enough.

I really like this quote by Manuel- "Mayberry has gotten better over the last couple of years," manager Charlie Manuel said. "It's time for him to really take off and show he can handle a Major League job. We have him at first base now for a reason. When we want to rest [Ryan] Howard, Mayberry hits lefties good. When we want to rest Howard, we can. And he can play all three outfield positions. ... John has to show he can hit right-handed pitchers."

Hopefully he sits Howard against tough lefties and starts Mayberry, because Howard sucks against lefties.

Phillies released Robb Quinlan. Apparently he asked to be released. Oh well, no loss.

I think Johnny has it right. I kind of think of Doc as one of those weird monks that flogs himself to keep his soul pure.

Like the weirdo from the beginning on the DiVinci Code?

Phils won today over the O's 13-6.

Lee got roughed up, 3 r in 3 ip. He'll be fine.

Lidge sucked again. I don't worry too much about spring stats, but with this man I do.

Baez and Bastardo each went 2 scoreless frames.

Mayberry and Howard each hit their 4th homeruns.

Ibanez went 3-3 and Delwyn Young had 3 base knocks too.

Amaro deserves the deal.
