Some people are idiots. I'm not just figuring this out. After 30 years on this planet I'm fully aware of mankind's stupidity. This is just another example of it...ESPN.Com's Sports Nation poll asks voters who had the more dominant postseason debut-
Tim Lincecum- 9 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 14 k
or
Roy Halladay- 9 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 8 k
As of 10:15 AM 20% of voters chose Timmy over Doc. Are you f'n kidding me?! Halladay tossed only the 2nd, that means him and one other person ever (Don Larsen), no-hitter in the history of the playoffs. Also, he did it against the National League's best offense (Reds). Lincecum's performance was terrific as well, but it was against a struggling Braves team and ended up being just a shutout, something accomplished by many pitchers before him in October. Halladay made history, Lincecum is merely a footnote. 20%, give me a break, idiots! Must have been Orlando Cabrera voting from his Blackberry over and over again.

The media shouldn't even be posing this question, but then again, that's what they do, and why I have no respect for them.
Despite the shutout and the 14 K's by Lincicum, the Doc's performance was a masterpiece.
I too blame ESPN for even thinking this question has validity and posing it. They're the real idiots. Of course a bunch of people are going to be bitter and not pick Halladay.
2nd no-hitter ever in the playoffs. The only way Lincecum could have one-upped him is if he went perfect game, which he did not.
Watch Colin Cowherd try to make a case on sportsnation today that Lincecum's performance was more dominant....
It's only a stupid poll, I get that, and I shouldn't get so fire up about it, but it really does irk me.
If CC Sabathia had gone 7 innings of 5 hit ball, with 1 run ESPN probably would have added his fat ass to the list too, because heaven forbid the Yankees not get top billing and acknowledgement in something.
In some parts the Phillies are becoming as hated as the Evil Empire. Not much you can do about it. Just know inside who was the better man on the mound.
But they are being hated very unfairly. They do nothing wrong. They're not obnoxious, they're not prideful, they don't outspend to win (I wish.)
They draft well, they make great trades, and they are as humble as can be. Hating them is just jealousy. Everything they do is by the book.
In ESPN's defense, there are some smart people who are arguing the case that Lincecum's game was better.

It doesn't matter how you gets out (fly outs, k's, groundouts), all that matters is that you get outs and Halladay did so without giving up a f'n hit.

GM-Carson here with your doom-and-gloom report...
Oswalt is not pitching well. His control is off and he's making wild and bad pitches.
Chase Utley was horrible in the 2nd inning. What the hell was he doing on defense? I love Utley and hardly ever criticize him, but that was just ugly.
The Phillies bats have been pretty pitiful so far this series too- only 6 hits in 10 innings now. Hit the f'n ball!
Through 3 and this team looks horrible. C'mon, light a fire under your asses and lets go.
Ugly game, but it looks like the Phils are gonna win. Horrible defense by both teams, wild pitches, tons of runners stranded on base. Whatever, hopefully 1 win closer to the NLCS.
Excellent!
2 down 1 to go.
Then 4 and 4.
Whistling guy has got to stop!!! Anyone else getting that annoying sound in their mix?
The group at my house to watch the game was annoyed with him too.LOL
Lincicum pitched an awesome game and had a great 14K's. But Halladay was even better with no hits and less batters faced. And Halladay's game is just historic!
Someone needs to take Cabrera's phone away so he stops voting. Good thing the vote didn't include the umpire too.
Whistling guy was retarded.
Orlando Cabrera received a small bit of kharma (bad that is) with his injury.
Normally I would say how bout them Phils after a game of this nature, but this one was more about how bad the Reds were.
Bobby Cox getting ejected in the second inning of the nightcap was classic. 8 games, 3 manager ejections. WTF is going on with umpires these days.
Here's some stuff I like about the playoffs so far...
Scott Rolen has been terrible in the field and at the plate.
Billy Wagner is hurt.
Burrell is hitting Bombs.
Burrell blasting bombs is okay until the NLCS, then he better go hitless.
The Braves and Reds are the lesser teams and it's showing.
Umpiring is always like this. Not horrible calls, just calls, but because it's the playoffs it's magnified.
