Revisiting the WFC of 2008

2 years ago Phillies fans woke up on October 30th and were World Champions. I feel with much of that team now gone, it's appropriate to look back on the 25-man squad and their contributions.

The 25 Contributors (Post from 2 years ago on WSBGMs)

Gone but not forgotten: Brett Myers, Jamie Moyer, JC Romero, Scott Eyre, Clay Condrey, JA Happ, Pat Burrell, Pedro Feliz, Greg Dobbs, Matt Stairs, Eric Bruntlett, Geoff Jenkins, Chris Coste, and So Taguchi. That's over half of the 2008 World Series champions absent from the roster.

Please let's not remember that season. It makes watching the current Phillies so difficult.

The 09 Phillies, while not a "better" team, were certainly as capable.

The 10 Phillies were a better team. Just flat out, could have dominated the Playoffs without breaking a sweat. But their bats stopped completely, a running problem this year.

So until we can win another Championship, the 08 season will be a bitter pill to swallow, because we should have had the 09 and 10 season as well.

Good news is, by '12 the Phillies should only have Utley left, and maybe a better hitting team.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

There will be several who will be arbitration eligable: Francisco or have team/player options on a contracts: Polanco, Ruiz(2013).
There are a number of pitchers who also fall into that catagory too.
