Killing In The Name Of

Rage Against the Machine guitarist and Left Alone frontman are rocking the stage! Raul Ibanez and Carlos Ruiz's bats are like matchsticks, because they're on fire. Raaauuulll is riding a 13-game hitting streak and has taken his AVG/OPS from .236/.711 on July 1st to .275/.798. Chooch just finished up a 8-15 series against the Marlins which included 3 doubles, 2 homeruns, 3 runs scored, and 6 rbi. Overall for the season, Ruiz is batting .298/.838.

Stuff:
*Still befuddled how the Phillies ran themselves into 3 straight outs in the 9th. Ibanez broke for home on contact and was caught in a rundown, Werth was then picked off at 2nd base, followed by a caught stealing by Dom Brown. Bad baseball.

*The Phillies are now an impressive 10-5 in extra inning games.

*Placido Polanco is 2nd in the NL with a .322 batting average. Pedro Feliz- .223. I'm just sayin'.

*JC Romero is wild, this we know. Do you know just how wild he is though? Over the past 2 seasons in 41 innings- 35:29 BB:K. Wow, worse than you thought, right?

*Greg Dobbs is worthless. It took him all of 7 pitches to strike out twice yesterday. He's now 3-36 (.083) as a pinch hitter and is only batting .191 overall. Time to release him and give someone like Andy Tracy, Neil Sellers, or Matthew Rizzotti some PH opportunities.

*Don't forget- Muck the Fets!

*I pity you if you don't understand the reference in the title of this post. But for those of you that are ignorant to kick ass music, here ya go...

Anyone else here the audio from Bob Davidson's foul call in the bottom of the 9th? Franzke could not believe it. It was great. Even after Francisco nearly wrapped one around the foul pole, he sarcastically exclaimed, "Wait, just to be sure let's check with Bob Davidson. Yes, it is foul."

Classic!

Heading to the game tonight, Section 206!

That was a gift win last night. From Hanley's lackadaisical throwing error on a routine play to the blown foul call. Sweet sweep.

There was more classic T-Mac last night too. When Nunez was getting wild and a pitch sailed up at Werth's head he said- "Nunez is nowhere near the plate, unless the plate is located on Werth's head." He was in extreme sarcasm mode last night. I liked it.

Sourgrapes from a turncoat journalist who didn't fit in the Philly scene.

that 9th inning was the worst base running I have seen since my little league days.

that article is just plain silly. not sure who sure who should be more embarrassed, the author or the publisher. no wonder newspapers are as successful as...the mets.

Andy Martino can eat a dick. Seriously, go cry about it pussy. The Mets are "nice guys". Give me a break. Jose Reyes and Francisco Rodriguez are Class A showboats and are as annoying as hell. Don't be jealous you're stuck covering a shitty loser of a team Andy, at least you have a job. Oh, by the way the Phils don't miss you!

andy martino went to purchase college. a quick wiki look into purchase finds "fall fest," a huge drag queen show and a notable alumni list dominated by dancers and choreographers.

is there a more perfect beat write for the mets than this "guy."

If you look in slow mo at the 3B call from last night....

You will see that the ball hits the ground outside the line in foul territory 2 feet before the bag.

Go Look at it again. Then it cork screws back and hits inside the line after the bag, then cock screws again and goes back foul and into the corner.

Me thinks you crazy Sir Alden.

Knowing that Romero has trouble finding the strike zone, and knowing that he had just thrown 6 out of 8 pitches for balls, why why why would you order an intentional walk to load the bases, thereby giving him no margin of error???

He promptly threw 4 pitches out of the strike zone to force in the tying run!

Yeah Chollie, you're a genius.

The Phillies deserved that break last night. Finally a big one went our way and they took advantage.

Chooooch is an absolute bloody CHAMPION. King of Philly this week. I love this team.

Baez sucks. Romero is wild - don't bring him in with runners on. Phenomenal comeback but why did we almost blow it??

That 8th inning was one of the best Phillie innings I have ever seen. 5 for 7 with RISP.

Top win

Charlie should have just let Baez in there for another batter or so. Romero...horrible!

That 8th inning by the Phillies was textbook baseball. I love seeing them play like that.

Credit where credit is due- Jonathan Niese was great last night for the Mets.
