Odd & Ends

Brett Myers a Met?
Myers has had a good season. By certain Phillies fans' standards, he's having a Cy Young season. His 3.41 ERA would place him only behind Roy Halldady among Phillies starters. Other teams have taken notice and the lowly Wade-led Astros most certainly will be willing to deal. One team mentioned on multiple sites to look at Myers is the Muts.

I don't want the Mets to get pitching help, but there is also part of me that would love the drama of Myers pitching against the Phillies during a playoff race...and completely laying an egg, of course.

Polanco Back
Polly made a rehab in Clearwater last night going 1-4. He's scheduled for another rehab start today and then possibly back to the Phillies for the game against the Cubs tomorrow.

Today's Game
Teddy Lily's 2010 season in two words - unlucky, inconsistent. His era is an acceptable 4.08 but his record is a poor 3-8. He's had seven starts where he's allowed 2 runs or fewer but four starts with 7 or more runs allowed.
Joe Blanton's 2010 season in two words - complete shit.

ok I'm all done with Joe Blanton for this year. Call up Happ and stick Heavy B in the bullpen

Blanton should never pitch passed the 6t inning ever.

if he's throwing a perfect game charlie should still pull him after 6.

Ryan Madson is like the movie ground hogs day. It sucks and the same things happens everyday.

This team is predictable and pathetic.

Blanton actually pitched really well. A quality start, in fact. It was just poor run support and one too many meatballs left over the plate. I consider this one a tough luck loss but last night was just brutal and silly.

All four runs scored by the Cubs were with two outs. And 13 of the 16 runs they've scored in the two games were with two outs. The inability of Phils pitchers to get that third out has haunted them all season.

Then, Blanton walks the opposing pitcher with the bases loaded, AFTER having him down in the count at 0-2. A pitcher who was 0 for 26 coming into that plate appearance. I repeat, walks him "after" getting ahead 0-2. INEXCUSABLE.

And how many times is Werth going to look at strike 3?

Lastly, Madson has picked up where he left off before the DL. Allowing base runners and giving up runs.

oh yeah, I missed the walking in a run on Lilly. That part was inexcusable. There's no reason to not throw 3 fastballs down the middle to opposing pitchers.

Ryan Howard good, everyone else bad.

Ryan Madson is a vagina. He has bumped Cole Hamels status up to boyish.

This team sucks again. Go figure.
