What I Got - Phillies Remix

Early in the morning, Orange Line down Broad Street
Tailgate time at Jetro then I’ll watch my Phils get beat
Got to find a reason, a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why their lead is all gone
I got my Burrell jersey, and I drink the High Life
I can grill a burger like a mother f&@#!n' riot

Season’s too short, need to win the games they got
Cuz the Mets might lose but the Braves might not
Always bloggin’ static, it’s how I get it off my chest
May have lost the Phield but my mom thinks we’re the best
Take a small example, take a tip from Rich Dubee
Take all of your prospects, trade them all for Clifton Lee

Losin’s what I got, with no help from stealin’ signs
Yeah, and the Phils winnin’ style's on a straight decline
It all comes back to Rube, he’s gonna get what he deserve
Can’t touch that, like Howard and a curve
Losin’s what we got, don't start a fight
The Mets are not in town tonight

Losin' is what I got, I said remember that
Losin' is what I got, I remember that
Losin' is what I got, I said remember that
Losin' is what I got

I don't cry when groundballs aren’t caught
I don't get angry when Werth strikes out alot
I don't get angry when Lidge blows a save
Or hearing Wheels’ voice on the radio wave
Startin’, Relievin’, it's all the same
Getting drunk to watch the Phil’s the only way to stay sane
Let the winnin’, let the winnin’ come back to me

'Cause losin' is what I got, I said remember that
Losin' is what I got, I remember that
Losin' is what I got, I said remember that
Losin' is what I got, I got, I got, I got

The offense isn't the only thing wrong with this team. There's a long list of problems.

Problems:
1. Backend of bullpen- Lidge is a question mark, Madson is hurt, Baez hasn't been good, Romero is erratic, and Contreras is solid but unproven in that capacity.

2. Bench- Schneider, Gload, Francisco, and Dobbs have been bad...especially Dobbs. They offer no real threat as pinch hitters and aren't good spot starters either. Valdez and Castro have been mediocre, but whatever, their utility middle infielders.

3. Starting Pitching- Blanton and Kendrick leave much to be desired. Hamels isn't living up to his billing either.

4. Meat of the Lineup- Utley, Howard, Werth, and Ibanez have all stopped hitting. 3 of the 4 will turn it around, but I'm afraid we've seen the end of the productive days of Raul. His swing is long, slow, and powerless. Maybe if he popped some roids...I'm just sayin'.

5. Injuries- missing J-Roll and Polly atop the lineup is too much to overcome.

Of course you'd take a shot at Hamels after refusing to give him any credit for his hot run in May.

Hamels was 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA in May. That really is not living up to his billing.

In your haste to further your silly agenda against him you ignore the positive aspects of his game.

Seriously, you're a fucking jerkoff. You are a piece of fucking human garbage Carson. The worst day in history was the day your daddy decided to blow inside your mom.

B- you truly hate me. Wow. That's cool, keep visiting the site bro.

Anyway, about Hamels. His May was good, but it's not like you can magically erase April or that shit-ass 2/3 inning he pitched last night.

I suggested this last night while watching the game...

I'd like the Phillies to donate their bats to plug the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. They are absolutely not using them

The problem Carson is you expect him to throw a 1 hit shutout every single time out. Perhaps you should adjust your expectations for him.

Last night he threw a bad change-up and paid for it. It happens to even the best pitchers.

GM-Carson said...

B- I don't expect a 1-hit shutout from him every time out, but I do expect an ERA in the low-to-mid-3's. His ERA last season and thus far this season is not that.

Way to spread the love B. I missed the first inning, but I wonder why Hudson came back after the delay but Hamels did not. Was he not hitting his spots early? I saw he threw 24-pitches in two thirds. Do you think the fightins shuffle their rotation to move up Hamels? Or maybe he'll be available in the pen since tomorrow's an off day and they used 6 from the bullpen yesterday.

Although they continued their losing ways, I heard some encouraging bat cracks over the airwaves. Howard, Werth and Ibanez all had hard outs and Chooch even had two hits.

Valdez chipped in to knocks too, but who he'll exit stage left soon enough. I don't think I'm grasping at straws when I say the bats may - emphasis on may - be coming around.

Any lineup with both Valdez and Castro in it will be anemic, but what choice does Charlie have?

I know this is unfair and unwarranted, but I think I hate Greg Dobbs. Well, "hate" is a strong word, but I truly want his ass released.

GM-Carson said...

It's no exaggeration to state that this offense is hitting (well actually not hitting per se) historical lows.

It took me 5 hours to concede the time for optimism has passed.

Fuck.

This team sucks.

Corey said...

if you know it is unfair and unwarrented, why say it? greg dobbs sucks his suckitude wouldn't be that big of a deal if the starter and multimillionaires were hitting even a little bit. how about we place the blame where it really belongs - chase utley, ryan howard, jayson werth, raul ibanez, shane victorino.

and it's time to put a little heat on charlie manuel, too. whenever they are hitting he gets a bunch of credit. it has to go both ways.

i'd rather be watching the pirates...

Almost every single player and coach can take blame in this shitfest. Only a few are exempt.

Best lyric ever.

Worst game ever.

Why has the starting pitching (minus Blanton) been so damn good this past week while no one else has shown up?

I agree with you about Dobbs. I was looking at what he has done since getting his current contract. He has not earned a dime of it!

The shit ass was in the pouring rain.

I do not agree with B about your birth, but you may have an overly
biased bias towards old Cole.

Time for Charlie to stop being a mixologist with the lineup and let them just settle back in. This still is a hell of an offense just going through a really really bad thing right now. That earned run given up by Contreras was only his 2nd all year.. and the two walks make either 4 or 5 in about 18 innings. Just thought I'd mention that before people start becoming reactionary.

During the slide the phaillies have wasted several good pitching outings from Kendrick and Moyer they won't get back...

Preserve John - Hudson threw 2 innings on the indoor mound during the rain delay to stay warm and ready.

Hamels has been good lately. Two 7 month seasons in a row. Probably no excuse but a little slow outta the blocks because of 'em. He's our 08 WS MVP. Forever in our hearts.
