Welcome Back, Lidge

Welcome back,
You couldn't get anyone out.

Welcome back,
Now your slider has bite, there’s no doubt.

Well the names haven’t changed since you hurt your arm,
And those dreams have remained, you’re our good luck charm.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya
(Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
In the pen where we need ya
(Here where we need ya)

We hope that he saves, some games against the Braves,
welcome back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Sometimes, we have to look at the bright side of things. Sure, the Phils couldn't score a run past the second inning yesterday. I know that Danys Baez sucks. I know Joe Blanton sucks more. It's difficult to watch Raul Ibanez hit less than .230. And recently Chase Utley has not been "The Man," hitting in the .260s. But Brad Lidge is back, bitches.

Now, if the Phillies can consistently go to the ninth inning with the lead...

There's a chance to take three of four from the Padres today, as The Unlucky One goes against young San Diego lefty Wade LeBlanc. Game time is 7:05. Loss becomes official about three hours later...

*The Phillies demoted Phillippe Aumont from Double-A back to High-A after a disastrous start to the season. Aumont's #'s: 1-6, 7.43 ERA, 1.87 WHIP.

*Nelson Figueroa was DFA'd by the Phillies but accepted a Triple A assignment with the club after clearing waivers.

*Phillies scouting director Marti Wolever told Paul Hagen of the Philadelphia Inquirer that the team will take the best available player early and will lean toward catching, lefthanded pitching, and middle infielders later. The Phils' first pick is #27.

good thing they aren't taking the pirates strategy of "most mediocre player available."

I'm actually kind of glad Figueroa accepted that assignment. Give's us some insurance in case somebody's arm falls off.

really carson, you're friends with Zoo with Roy??

GM-Carson said...

Zoo With Roy is apparently funny, so I need to get with it and be hip.

Hamels has given up 1 hit and the Phillies are losing..

Aaron said...

Utley sucks
howard sucks
werth sucks
ibanez sucks
victorino sucks
castro sucks
rollins sucks for being hurt and making us all watch castro
schneider sucks
dobbs sucks

GM-Carson said...

I think it's time to worry about this team. The offense is horrendous. Utley is a mainstay, a rock, but what the hell has happened to him? Werth's swing is as ugly as I ever remember it being. Ibanez is washed-up. This team may have seen it's window of winning close. C'mon fellas, turn this around!

Aaron said...

id also like to welcome jesse biddle to the phillies organization by saying he also sucks!

GM-Carson said...

Who the hell is Jesse Biddle?

Aaron said...

gee i wonder if werth will strike out on a high fastball again????

GM-Carson said...

Nevermind, he's the Phils 1st round pick. RHP outta high school in PA.

Aaron said...

Carson he's the phillies draft pick

GM-Carson said...

How long before the Phillies are on constant shuffle with the Mets, Marlins, and Nats for 2nd/3rd/4th/and last in the NL East?

David said...

Milt Thompson's approach to helping these hitters break the slump is analogous to Obama's approach to doing anything about the BP oil crisis. At what point can we expect his head to roll for doing nothing to address this pack of undisciplined hitters?

Andrew said...

Offensive struggles are perfect leading into interleague play next week..... Last place here we come!

GM-Carson said...

Hamels deserved the win last night. Good game by him. Too bad for him the offense is all levels of SUCK right now.

By the way, Cliff Lee went the distance for the M's last night picking up the W.

Also, Carlos Monasterios won his 3rd game on the year and has a 2.27 ERA as a Rule 5 pick out of the Phils organization.
