Phils Take Biddle

The Phillies selected Germantown Friends lefty Josh Biddle with their first round pick last night. He's 6'5" with a low to mid-90s fastball, curve and change. The last high school lefty to be taken in the first round by the Phillies was Cole Hamels. No word yet if Carson thinks Biddle resembles female genitalia.

I'm sure phuturephillies.com will have a complete breakdown at some point today. When he was drafted yesterday they did say it was a bit of a reach as he certainly wasn't the best player available. We'll see, I guess.

As for a visual introduction, here is a short clip of him pitching last March. There are a few vids up on youtube, but I picked this one because he can't seem to throw a strike and I thought it fit in nicely with the current state of the Phillies...

Biddle is a teenager so I'll cut him slack. No harsh verbal jabs yet.

Hamels deserved the win last night. Good game by him. Too bad for him the offense is all levels of SUCK right now.

By the way, Cliff Lee went the distance for the M's last night picking up the W.

Also, Carlos Monasterios won his 3rd game on the year and has a 2.27 ERA as a Rule 5 pick out of the Phils organization.
