In Depth St. Louis/Philly Series Preview

Location: City of Brotherly Love aka The Place Outsiders Get Beatdowns
Bad Guys: St. Louis Cardinals 17-8 1st Place
Good Guys: Philadelphia Phillies 14-10 1st Place

Game 1: Jamie Garcia vs. Joe Blanton
(2-1, 1.04/0.96) (2010 debut)
Reason the Cardinals Win: Pujols, Holliday, Rasmus, and Freese go back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
Reason the Phillies Win: Heavy B hits for the cycle in his return to the diamond. Just imagine a Blanton triple...oxygen please!

Game 2: Adam Wainwright vs. Cole Hamels
(4-1, 2.13/0.89) (2-2, 5.28/1.47)
Reason the Cardinals Win: Wainwright is still pissed that he received the most 1st place Cy Young votes last year, yet somehow finished 3rd in the balloting.
Reason the Phillies Win: Cole Hamels mans-up and pitches a gem. Ah, who the hell am I kidding?

Game 3: Brad Penny vs. Kyle Kendrick
(3-1, 1.56/1.18) (0-1, 7.61/1.65)
Reason the Cardinals Win: Kyle Kendrick sucks.
Reason the Phillies Win: I have unfounded hate for Brad Penny and that should be enough.

Game 4: Kyle Lohse vs. Roy Halladay
(0-1, 5.28/1.38) (5-1, 1.47/0.88)
Reason the Cardinals Win: Halladay comes down with the 24-hour flu.
Reason the Phillies Win: Halladay is a beast...maybe he does belong at the zoo.

Heavy B looking good tonight. Too bad the 1st base ump dicked them outta run with that interference call. It was an errant throw for Pete sake.

Right now, Joe's thinking, "I coulda done that."

No matter how well he pitches, his line regresses to the norm: 6 innings, 4 runs.

if your team brings in nelson figueroa with two on and two out in a one run game, your team sucks. is there a worse option in the bullpen than that guy? if so, then just release danys baez b/c he's obviously uselss. very sad. our bullpen is very sad.

Blanton looked great through 6, then blammo- Cards and Figgy got to him. I somehow see this series going very badly, with the only win coming Thursday when Halladay pitches.
