Save Us JA Happ

Roy Halladay- superb (8 ip per start, 0.56 ERA). Bullpen- astonishingly effective (27.2 ip, 1.30 ERA). Hamels, Kendrick, and Moyer- bad (4.5 ip per start, 8.87 ERA). JA Happ- ? Happ only managed 5 innings in his first start of the season, but those were 5 shutout innings. 5 innings isn't even a quality start though. With Hamels, Moyer, and Kendrick failing to go deep into the game, the Phillies need another starting pitcher to step up and log some meaningful innings to save the bullpen from overuse.

Game time- 3:05. Pitchers- Drunk dickbag Scott Olsen vs. the prematurely bald JA Happ.

Shocking Stats:
*Chase Utley has 9 walks to only 1 strikeout.

*Placido Polanco leads MLB with a .486 average.

*Pitchers have more hits (6) than our entire bench does (3).

*Opposition has stolen 7 bases and only been caught stealing once.

Nice photos of Olson. Just what I needed while drinking my coffee.

A few years back while pitching for the dead fish didn't he say he hated the Phillies? If I recall correctly, he had a few successful turns until he mouthed off. We've owned him since then. Although I'm hesitant, I'm going to put the stamp on it:

Olsen has had numerous run-ins with teammates, opposition, and the law. He's a punk ass bitch. And yes, he did say he hated the Phillies, and in turn we hate him.

Olson is a little punk. I laughed when he said he hated the phillies a few years back. Now all he does is rotate between other NL East teams as the 5th starter. But you have to watch out...he will beam somebody. If he hits anyone....Happ better do what is right.

A 8-1 start would be awesome. I'm thinking Francisco gets the start in place of Ibanez today.

This team reminds me of the '93 Phils. Off to a hot start.

From Jayson Stark's latest:
No hitter in baseball has been more susceptible to The Shift the past few years than Ryan Howard. But Howard has driven so many balls to the left side since the spring -- including an RBI single right through the vacant shortstop hole Monday -- that one scout tells Rumblings that Howard might not have to worry about that shift much longer.

"When teams start seeing this guy's spray chart, they'd be smart not to [shift anymore]," the scout said. "He's a different hitter right now. He's much more content to let the ball travel and use another side of the field. In the past, you could beat him in early, and really get him cheating. And that made him very vulnerable to those curveballs and changeups away. But now you can't do that, because he won't go out and chase those balls. Just a different hitter in every way."

Why do Phillies pitchers even bother working on a pickoff move? If they actually catch the guy too far off 1st base, Ryan Howard is going to throw the ball into left-centerfield anyway. Oh well, 1/3 the way to another Howard for Howard.

following the game online i couldn't figure out why happ was taken out of the game so early until i looked at the boxscore: 6 walks and 0 ks. wow. thankfully this is against the nationals (how many times has that been said in the first two weeks of the season?)

Why do we have Danny Baez

WHY DO WE HAVE DANNY BAEZ TIMES A THOUSAND

Bullpen gives up more runs today than they did all season. This is what happens when the starters routinely can't pitch past the 5th. The bullpen was awesome until today, but they've been leaned upon heavily and games like today will occur more often against better clubs unless the starting pitchers sack up and actually make some pitches and staff in the game longer.

Did you watch the same game I did? Danny Baez is supposed to be one of our ace relievers. And he sucks.

Nothing to do with anything other than someone blowing it.
