Game Time Primer

Grand Pappy Moyer, the oldest player in baseball at 47, makes his 2010 debut tonight in Houston in what is his 24th MLB season. Wow. The Phillies are rolling, the Astros are scuffling, time to pick up win #4 on the season and win #259 for Jamie.

*Who wants Pedro Feliz back? Not me! Placido Polanco leads MLB with 8 rbi, 11 hits, and 7 runs scored. He's really slacking in batting average and OPS though (.579/1.466).

*The Phillies offense has scored the most runs (32), has the top batting average (.344), and best OPS (.976) in all of baseball. Times are good.

*Phillies pitching staff is sporting a tidy 2.57 ERA and averaging nearly a strikeout per inning (35 ip/33 k).

*Brian Schneider may have gotten Corey's vote for probable cult status, but Rule 5'er David Herndon is the early frontrunner. 3 games, 3.1 ip, no runs.

*Ben Francisco is one of the best 4th outfielders in the majors, and would be starting on many squads, so getting him a start today or tomorrow is imperative. Plug him in for Ibanez or Vic.

Dude, I've been on the Herndon bandwagon for months. I can finally take down my Scottie Upshall shrine.

Ryan Howard sure can crush a ball. The more he makes contact the more dangerous he becomes.
