Not Much To Do

Not much happening in Phillies land today, so I decided to create the mock-ESPN magazine cover of Halladay's arrival. I suppose I could rant about the massive shaft Robbie Alomar got in the Hall of Fame voting yesterday, but we all know by now that many of the "enlightened" voters for awards and such are not all that enlightened at all. Roberto Alomar 4 Hall if 2011!

Honestly, Alomar is one of the best 2nd basemen of all-time offensively and defensively. I know he didn't have the magic # of 3000 hits, but that's because he didn't try to stick around for many years past his expiration date. Alomar led the Majors in hits for a 10 year span for crying out loud, that's a damn good sign of dominance.

Scott Eyre retired.

Hmmm.. I just took a look at the list in the voting. I don't see Andre Dawson as any better than a lot of the names there. Also, now that widespread steroid use has come in the public eye, does McGwire deserve a spot instead of being singled out?

my hall of fame vote would have gone to: dawson, blyleven, alomar, larkin and mcgwire.

but the voting is all shit anyway. don't believe me? somebody voted for david sequi. david fucking segui. others receiving votes: pat hentgen and kevin appier. two idiots voted for ellis burks. another two morons picked erik karros. garbage.

Corey,

I agree with you. The BBWAA is so out of touch it is retarded. To vote for Ellis Burks is like the idiots who in the past voted for Lance Parrish or in the future will vote for David Bell. But what makes it even worse are the five voters who mailed in blank ballots. If you are bestowed such an "honor" to vote at least vote.

Blyleven should be in hall and should have been in a long time ago. I have read in other places that if Bert gets in then you have to think about letting Mike Mussina in. I say why not, you can make a strong case for Moose.

Larkin should've been voted in this year and even though I didn't like Roberto he should be in this year as well.

McGwire, Blyleven, Dawson, and Alomar would get my vote.

Larkin and Edgar Martinez would be tough ones, but I say no.

Mussina damn well better get in the Hall. He could have easily stuck out 2 or 3 more seasons getting the magical 300 wins, but he decided to go out on top as a 20 game winner, that's amazing!

Hard to believe that we have Halladay.

There should be a

"You are an idiot and should not be
allowed to vote - vote."

30 days after Hall of Fame Voting.

The three Highest Vote getters
would then be barred from voting.

Rosenthal says Beltre turned down a pair of three-year, $24MM offers this offseason, apparently from the Phillies and A's. We'll see if he ultimately beats that amount over 2010-12.

Asics Onitsuka Tigers come in different varieties, from casual sneakers to serious running shoes, Asics Mexico 66 but the one thing that unifies them is their unique retro look, that harkens back to athletic shoes of the past. Asics Tigers feature the iconic Asics swoosh, and come in retro colors Asics ultimate 81 and styles, that make them a fashion statement, in addition to being great to run in.Asics Tiger sneakers are great shoes for those who want to sport the retro look, but don’t plan Onitsuka tiger mexico 66 on doing too much running. Although these shoes are great for light jogging, they sacrifice some of their functionality for comfort and style. These shoes provide lots of padding, and are great kicks to wear to school and other casual venues.
