getting excited! love the "inspiring" photo of Cole
Hahaha, gotta poke fun of Cole when we can. Truthfully, I love Cole. He just irks me when he sulks on the mound.
Ben Francisco is conspicuosly absent from the bench, no? Also, I am very surprised to see that Schneider batted a scant 218 last year. I thought he was expected to be an improvement over Coste/Bako. Anyone know the reason why his average was so low?
Schneider isn't an offensive force by any means, but he is a very solid defensive catcher. He's an upgrade over Bako for sure, and poor Coste just fell out of favor in Philly for some reason.
I had Ben Francisco on my draft, but must have deleted him by accident. Error will be corrected shortly.
Jose Contreras- 1 yr $1.5M
Phils are looking to add some pitching, especially starting pitching depth, but likely on minor league deals.
pedro! Pedro!! PEDRO!!!
Think of the wear and tear
it would help the bullpen
if he was the 5th starter.
Remember the Pedro vs. Lincecum Game?
Give him 4 Mil with bonuses and be done with it.
Pedro wants 5 mil, and wants to pitch the entire season. Both are unrealistic. If he'd go for $2M with incentives, I think the Phils would do it and give him off every once in and awhile through the rotation. Maybe make 3 starts then take 1 off sorta thing.
Make it 4 mil with 2 Mil of incentives.
Use him just the way Carson outlined it, mixing in Bastardo
and Kendrick for spot starts.
It is not just about the #5 spot in the rotation, but having less drop off and options if 1-4 suffer injuries.
