Lee, Pedro, and NL East Player Movement

Cliff Lee:
Pitching- 9 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, 6 k's, 1 run, 1 win.
Hitting- 2 hits in 4 at bats, 1 run, 1 double.

Freakin' awesome!

Pedro Pitches:
5 ip, 3 h, 3 bb, 4 k, 5 r/4 earned, and the loss. Following the game he said he felt fine and it wasn't a stamina thing that wrecked him in the 5th, rather an uncomfortableness while pitching out of the stretch. Message to Pedro- get used to the stretch because you're going to be doing relief with the Phils.

Pedro Speaks:
When asked about his friends and ex-teammates Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz's link to the 2003 steroid list- "There's no crying in baseball. We won in 2004. That's it. Are you going to tell me that the other guys, who used it on other teams are now whining? They used it, too. One thing that's really caught my attention is -- why is it all Dominicans? What's going on? Why is it all Dominicans that all of a sudden come out positive? The last one standing might be me. That's a big question to ask. What's going on here? Why is it I'm the only one who might be left standing? All of a sudden, they're going to come up and say: 'Pedro [did it], too.' That's when I'm going to start stripping my clothes off and showing everybody I've never had acne on my back. If I did use it, it didn't help me. They need to give my money back. It didn't work." Yum, backne!

Premium pitching matchup tonight with Blanton for the Phils and Lincecum for the Giants. I hope Howard puts one in McCovey's Cove off Timmay.

Also of note, Mark Reynolds took the MLB lead in "The Howard", with his 4th offense last night.

Best pitching for Phillies all year.Phillies finally have an ace.Took years for Phillies to make moves like this...need to keep the pedal to the floor now.

Cole Hamels did have a shutout against the Dodgers earlier this season, but Lee's batting helps even that out.

I thought for sure Dunn would be the first to 4. Rather amazed the two of them were so stagnant. Maybe it's an off-year for Howards.

In any case, I fucking hate this ballpark.

Dominic Brown was promoted to Double-A Reading.

Phillies Organizational Outfielders:
At MLB level- 3 all-stars (Werth, Victorino, and Ibanez) with a very talented 4th outfielder in Francisco.

AAA- stud prospect Michael Taylor.

AA- 5 tool prospect Dominic Brown.

Enjoy it, because times are good!

I agree Gm,
the Phillies have a great outfield. Brown shoulda got promoted, he has been playing well. Taylor is a player! The Phillies have a great team in years to come. Thanks for commenting :)

So the Phillies have proved Lincecum is hardly an ace with seven hits off him in five innings.

They have proved that they suck with runners in scoring position though.

Timmy just made the Phillies look silly.

Lincecum is an ace. He's thee ace. Sure they got their hits, but they sure as hell didn't get their runs.

Blanton didn't deserve the loss tonight. Damn offense.
