Phlashback Phriday - Little League Rollins

I'm changing things up a little today for the Phlashback. Usually we focus on a former player of relative obscuratiy but today I want to look at current player and "phlashback" to when he was a kid. Today's subject: Jimmy Rollins.

Here's a video I found on the 'net that shows young Jimmy fine tuning his swing during a little league game in Oakland.

In little Jimmy's defense, that was only strike one. And if he would get that pitch today, he would likely fly out to short left field...

Let's all admit that there are more problems with the Phillies than J-Roll.

Let's then admit that it is REALLY FUN to gang up on that horrible horrible O-Hit J-Roll

Observations:
*Chad Durbin's command has been horrible this year. He's walked 26 batters in 40 innings, where as he walked only 35 in 87.2 ip last year.

*Carlos Ruiz's batting average on June 7th- .309, on June 26- .248. Over that span he's 4-39 (.103 avg).

*For all of us screaming about J-Roll's struggles leading off, Shane Victorino is nearly as bad when there (9-42, .214 avg, .250 on base %).

*Mark Reynolds just tied Adam Dunn for the MLB lead in Howards with 3.

Rollins benched last night and probably again tonight, but Manuel said he's still his leadoff hitter. Strange.

From the Zo Zone- The Phillies have lost 10 of their last 12 games following last night's 10-4 loss to the Rays at Tropicana Field. They have hit .232 and scored 53 runs in that span. The rotation has a 5.24 ERA. The bullpen has a 7.44 ERA. The defense has committed eight errors.

From Manuel- "You know what? You play like that right there, there's a good chance you're going to lose some more. That's not good play. I don't think anybody in our clubhouse will tell you that they think that's very good play. We've lost some games where we've given some away. We've lost some games where we've played bad baseball. We've made some mental mistakes. Mistakes that you're not supposed to make. Sometimes we don't score. Sometimes we don't hold them. We don't play consistent baseball. We don't have the pitching and the hitting and the defense together. That's how you accumulate losses."

Hahaha that's awesome!

Jimmy needs to start hitting, but I really dont get what the benching is going to do to him.

Phils will be in 3rd place in the NL East by the end of the weekend. And thats being kind!

This team is not like last year. Last year they lost some obviously, and had rough patches, but they didn't just simply give games away and play Bad News Bears style ball. A slump is one thing, and this team will hit, especially once Raul comes back, but the pitching has sucked all year. We're F'd in the A.

Well no need to watch this game. I can already tell you whats going to happen. The Phillies offense will strike out all night long and Hamels will toss a shut out until around the 6th inning when he will throw his one mistake pitch that of course the hitter won't miss and it will be a two run homer. Scott Rolen of course will be the guy that hits it

The Phils will score 1 run in an inning that they should have scored more. Then in the bottom of the 8th some douche from our bullpen will give up a bunch of runs and the phils will lose 5-1.

Remember were you heard this first.

This team has absolutely no clue what is a ball and what is a strike. They hit like little leaguers

yet another two out run given up. Here's my definition of an ace... when your team scores 1 your give up 0. when your team scores 2 you give up 1.
Cole has not been an ace all year.

Everyone on this team is worthless piece of shit!!!!! This is a 4th place team.....i'm done.....i can't do it anymore. I should have stopped watching after the series. see you next year.

At last the Phillies entertain me in June! Watching Cole Hamels blame the ump for his own crapitude was funny. Even funnier was seeing Chan Ho Park writhe around in pain. I will now watch this sack o' crap team as if I were at a circus and there is calliope music playing in the background. World Fu**ing Champs? Who cares? We have thoroughly sh*t the bed and it no longer matters. What other incentive to watch this miserable band of pu**ies could there possibly be other than to laugh at their "wacky" antics? Maybe if you needed to show a kid how NOT to play baseball, then spending three hours of your life bearing witness to this testament to appathetic futility wouldn't be a total waste.

This team is in bad shape. Can't hit, can't pitch, bad combo.

Brad Lidge's contract extension is looking horrible right now isn't it?!
