The lefty heavy lineup issue should be left alone, because after last night the Phils are now a staggering 14-4 against south paws. Ibanez and Utley are two lefthanded batters that hit lefthanded pitching well, so the only person is of concern is strikeout prone super slugger Ryan Howard.
If the Phils are to acquire a frontline starter this season via trade, my guess is that teams come in demanding Double-A Reading Phillies outfielder Michael Taylor. The 23 year old tighend-sized 6’6” 250 lb. prospect had an amazing season in ’08 and is killing it right now batting .351 with a 1.027 OPS and 35 r, 61 h, 10 dbl, 3 trpl, 10 hr, 40 rbi, 9 sb, and only 23 k’s through 49 games. I envision him as Werth’s replacement after next season, and would hate to leave the organization.
F’ the West Coast:
10 PM start times, that’s my freakin’ bedtime. I can barely make it through the 3rd inning before I doze off for the night. I used to be able to stay up and watch the entire game when I was younger, but like Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon, I’m too old for this shit now. I should just let the tv on and maybe I'll be able to catch the last inning during my nightly wake-up piss break. Tonight’s matchup has Jamie Moyer against ex-Phillie Eric Milton. Can the Phils make it 8 straight?
Jose Reyes, already on the 15-day DL, further injured himself during a rehab stint by partially tearing his hammy and might not be back until the All-Star break. Couldn’t happen to a nicer
