Down To Earth

Coming home after a highly successful 7-3 road trip, one would expect the Phils to finally begin getting on a roll at home. Problem is, the opponent is the Boston Red Sox and they're at home. Yep, at home the Phils are a pitiful 12-16. 12-16 at home for the defending World Champs, where the fans are friendlier and more supporting than ever. So what gives?

Kyle Kendrick was sent back to the minors, where he should remain for eternity, and Sergio Escalona was called back up for the 88th time this season.

The bullpen is a bit tired after logging something like 127 innings in the past 4 games. Need Happ to go deep into the game today.

Prospect Jason Donald hit the DL, and will soon go under the knife. That's not good.

I hate interleauge play. I don't want to see the AL vs NL until the World Series. Why the hell are the Phils playing almost as many games against the likes of the Yankees and BoSox as they do with their state buddies in the same league Pirates?

How many options does Escalona have left? They're going to have to keep him up here soon if they keep using them.

Sergio Escalona has the idea name for a Columbian drug lord on Miami Vice

What the hell??

Now Escalona is going back to AAA and the Phillies called up Tyler Walker. Amaro's done a pretty decent job thus far, but this is getting ridiculous.

The Red Sox own us. Everytime they come to philly they kick our asses

why can't we get julio freakin lugo out?

why is charlie resting ibanez when he is going to get a day off tommorow?

Why does Happ suddently completely suck his last two starts?

Why does it take a half hour to get the Red Sox out every inning?

The Red Sox are a better team than us.

Plain and simple, they are just better and thank god the Rays beat them in the ALCS last year.

oh ooo babe lugo is up again

Escalona can be optioned up and down as many times as the Phils desire this year. An "option" is just one year. This entire season is Sergio Escalon's 1st option. Very confusing I know.

I fucking hate interleague play!

And this douche that keeps saying they're me needs to chill, it's just stupid.

Carson, Donald going under the knife is a good thing, as something was wrong with him and he needs to get back to his .300 level hitting.

And this Red Sox series should be at 1 Phillies Win, 1 Rain Out right now. I'm so fucking mad at the umpires.

Homeruns to Nick Green and Rocco Baldelli, c'mon, that's bullshit!

CHARLIE GET OFF YOUR FAT ASS AND MAKE A PITCHING CHANGE....HAPP IS NOT GETTING ANYBODY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh Beckett with a homerun? Happ was bad today.

Hopefully the abused bullpen can hold on to this league and salvage a game.

Nice victory. Needed that.

Also see that Ryan Howard's defense is starting to return to norm.

Well the Fightin's showed me something today. I was fully expecting to get sweept and for Josh Beckett to shut us down all day.

Mets lose and our lead is back to 4.

There's no excuse for not sweeping the Blue Jays this week with Halladay on the DL

The umps in this series were F'ing brutal and should be fired and then shot and then fired again.

Jason Donald going under the knife was a very good thing. Not only because he needs to get back to normal, but Scott Lauber reported today that he is one of the major trading pieces for the Phils and he was being rumored to go to the Red Sox for Brad Penny. I'd rather not trade at all than trade for Brad Penny.

Awesome win today. The Phils really needed a pick me up after the rough road trip. Going out to the west coast and then all those late inning games really take their toll on a team. Giving Ibanez the day off was a good idea too. Nice to show the team that they can win without him and give the man a much needed break.

Although via Twitter, Zolecki just said that Ibanez has some soreness in his Achilles, isn't sure how serious it is, and described him as day-to-day. Let's hope that it's nothing that a little ice and rest can't cure.
